Went there on a Sunday to meet a friend, let the kids play a game. Sundays they have some half-price hours, which is a great savings. I found them on their website, but you don't need the printed one.
Not sure why others have had a bad experience with the staff; I found everyone very friendly, smiling, helpful. We got our shoes quickly, were assigned a lane, and when I went to the wrong table, a young man came over to point out we were one table over. The lanes are nice, plentiful, though for duckpin, it is a full length lane, rather than the expected half lane. I think there were at least 30 lanes or so, and it looks like they could convert any lane to either duckpin or ten pin. Our boys used the bumpers (metal), and they offered a "dragon slide" which were cute and sturdy plastic guides for beginners. We just bowled without them.
We got some fries, and a free pitcher of ice water with cups. They were good ish, not over cooked, not too salty, but not gourmet. I thought about getting a pretzel, which looked good. They had everything well stocked (napkins, ketchup packs) and it was all very nice and easy. The snack bar only takes Cash. Dunno if that was everyday, but I think so.
The area is clean, and really well lit on Sunday Mornings. Employees were sweeping, and if they were chatting when a customer came up (me), they gave me their immediate attention. It was really empty before noon, but by 12:30 was getting full. They have nice murals, fresh paint, new shoes. While we were there they set up a b-day party next to us with at least 4 tables. Tablecloths, placemats, plates, juice cups, popcorn, pizza, all the usual niceties for a fun kids' party. Several families played games while we were there. A real family place Sunday Mornings.
I'd go back anytime. It was fun, had some arcade games, . Large parking lot. Nice...
Read moreWe live very close to this establishment and booked our children's birthday parties here when they were young. But after our recent experience, we won't be going back. They have a young staff who have no clue regarding the placement of customers. We were there at a time when there were lots of empty lanes. We're both older, and were having fun spending time with our college-age daughter. Despite the fact that there were other open lanes, the staff chose to put a young family with stair-step kids, ranging from a toddler to perhaps 3rd grade right next to us. They had no concept of courtesy - it was all about them. They slid around a dinosaur ramp for the kiddies and the parents even backed into our lane area a couple times. They bowled or moved the ramp around just as we would start to bowl. Our scores went right into the toilet. On the way out, we complained to the staff and their response was "If you were unhappy, why didn't you ask to be moved?" Seriously? WE had to move? The kid behind the counter was about 19. We were on our second game. Why was it OUR obligation to move?
But this is the "new America", folks. It's why people build home theaters. We would pay a lot of money, go early to a 3-D theater, find prime seats in an open area, and then some group would come in, sit behind us, and their kids would constantly kick the backs of our seats. When we complained, the response always was "If they're bothering you, you can move to other seats". Right. WE'RE...
Read moreWhat a disorganized mess! Brought my family in to bowl and first we order food that they said would take 15 minutes. We kept going up to check and it took an hour for them to give us our pizza. I went up one last time to ask them where my pizza was and while waiting the girl cooking pointed out they burnt a pizza that they need to throw away. When she asked me what I was waiting for she gave me the burnt pizza she was going to throw away because I had been waiting so long. At least she apologized for burning it?
Next we had a lane attendant tell us we have 10 minutes left with our lane so we had to rush to finish our last games. We were paying by the game and not the hour and was never informed of a time limit. I was not happy with the overall experience and probably wouldn't have written this review except that when we left a delivery truck had us blocked in and we couldn't leave. When I brought it to management's attention along with all if my other issues that day I was advised I just have to wait for them to finish their deliveries. Did not even show any empathy or even attempt to apologize for the overall poor experience.
I have seen other reviews like this on Google and Facebook about Severna Park Lanes, but I usually take them with a grain of salt. I hope your experience is...
