Won't be back, unfortunately. I prefer to shop local. I expected to pay more for local shops than at the big box stores, so I wasn't upset when a fabric that would have been $10-$15 per yard at WalMart or Amazon was $19.90 per yard. When I got to the checkout and the proprietor said they'd add a 3% fee for using a debit card, though, I was done. I'm already paying above market price to support a local store. I'm not taking on your fees for operation, too. When I mentioned I don't support stores that pass on their card fees to the customer, the proprietor complained about how she didn't get enough business and the fees cost her too much last year. That means you have a bad business model or bad marketing. Those are a proprietor's problems; her failures. Not mine. Not when I'm already paying more for the no reason other than to support a local store. Expand inventory to reach more people, improve marketing, but don't expect me to pay you to exist. A little yapping dog greets you. And then the owner, who has left everything behind, comes to you. You are greeted nicely and offered help. But she doesn't push you or force you to go shopping. Instead, you should feel as comfortable as in a living room. Take your time and enjoy shopping. You can also have a nice chat at any time.
There are also children's toys, books and pens. So that if you come with children, they don't get bored when you are overwhelmed by the huge selection of fabrics.
Simply a...
Read moreI finally had time to check out this remote quilt shop I had seen signs for a long MO Hwy 60 in Seymour, MO. I was pleasantly surprised to see a familiar face when I entered, as she had moved from only a few blocks away. I love her layout, so much more room to display her lovely selection of quality fabrics, notions, embroidery supplies, her completed quilts, areas for teaching and of course her beautiful quilting machine and frame. I will indeed be back and will be telling my friends about her location. I was thrilled to learn that she also hosts a weekly Artisan Market and will be checking that out as well, maybe even bringing my creations to...
