I grew up in Glenshaw and have been shopping there since the 1980's and love it. However, the last two times I ordered a cake at the bakery were awft experiences. In July, I ordered a full sheet cake that had a few layers and the flavor and color was wrong and they literally wrote '???' on the cake because they did not understand what they were supposed to write. No over ever called to ask, they just ruined the cake. I think it was around $100. I did send and email and the manager called me back and said they would refund the money. As much as that was nice, the cake was for the party and by the time I would go back and get the money it would not matter. The party was over the experience was ruined so I never went back to get the money. we've been going there for years and that was the first time I've really been disappointed so I just chalked it up to sometimes people make mistakes.this past weekend however, I ordered another cake for my daughter's third birthday. It wasn't as bad as the graduation cake from July but my husband went to pick up the cake and I do admit that he could have checked the cake before he left but he did not. He got the cake home and icing was the wrong color. Her name is victoria, obviously a little girl's name, and icing was in blue frosting..Nobody ever asked me what color frosting I wanted but I never imagined they would use blue for a little girl's cake. Again, nobody asked and nobody called to check. When my husband came home, and I saw the cake, I immediately called the bakery and they said they would redecorate it if I would bring it back. However, the party was at 12:00 my husband picked the cake up at 11:30 so if he was going to return it he would miss the party or at least part of it and by that time it wasn't worth it. I just want the bakery to know that these things mean a lot in people's lives. Cakes are in pictures and they are memories that even parents hold onto for years. Customer service means a lot too. There are lots of other places I could shop. There's Aldi's , Shop n Save and of course there's always other private bakeries and I could even make one myself. I just advise anybody who gets a cake here to be very very specific and check the cake before you...
Read moreGiant Eagle is very similar to any grocery store. It has the normal foods and items you would find in any grocery store. You can buy beer and wine at this Giant Eagle. The selection of bottled beer is decent but not overly interesting or rare. I do not know much about wine so I am not equipped to judge the selection. The store does have beer taps and the selection is usually fairly interesting. The overall selection of foods is good. The bakery is very good and I have gotten very good bread from here. The deli selection doesn't have anything beyond the normal selection but does cover all the essentials. Their international selection is okay and has some interesting items. I have two complaints about the store. The first complaint is how often they move items within the store. While I feel this happens at any store and understand why stores do this, it is very frustrating. I do all the shopping for my family, and I am almost constantly frustrated when I can't find something I am looking for. Sometimes the item has been moved to different aisle. The second complaint I have is the organization of the store. It doesn't make a lot of sense. For example, before Giant Eagle re-organized the store all of their international items were in one aisle. After the re-organization, one aisle has Italian and Asian items and another has everything else. The two aisles are next each other but...
Read moreI'm not a big fan of Giant Eagle as a company, but this is a new location with decent produce. The prices are a little high, but are in line with other Giant Eagle locations. The selection is good because the store is huge, and they have plenty of non-grocery store items in here as well. The layout of the store makes no sense, however, and you'll agree once you move beyond the produce into a section of the store that has random aisles perpendicular to the rest of the store as well as a giant open space where they just kind of stack drinks and other products. On the upside, there is a a small beer distributor attached to the store but there are all types of rules to buy beer there: (1) you can only buy one case at a time. you can buy multiple cases, but you have to literally make a trip to your car in between the purchase of each case. (2) you can not bring purchased beer into the rest of the store, you have to immediately take it to your car so this has to be done at the beginning of your shopping trip or at the end after you have already brought your groceries to your car. (3) they have to tag every bottle of beer you buy with a sticker if you do a mix 6-pack so hopefully you do not collect bottles or...
