So about 3-5 years ago we went to dinner at 2 margaritas and then ran across the street here to get some ice cream.
The owner was working and he was sooo friendly. Gave my daughter a free lemon bar and she will never forget it.
You could tell that he was genuinely happy to be there and really enjoyed his customers.
It was just such a pleasant experience. We wanted to come back and try out the food.
Well we don’t get out a whole lot and are low income. So by time we got back out there, it was closed and we thought the owner straight up closed down the business.
We have talked frequently about the store and the owner over the years. Me, my husband and my oldest. We always talked about what a great experience it was and we wished we could find more small businesses like that. And my husband and I would talk about how we’d love to open up a store when we are older selling who knows what. Just find something that brings us joy and we can spread that joy to others.
Well anyways. We went to 2 margaritas last night for dinner and saw that the union country store was open! We were skeptical thinking maybe new owners but when we went inside it all looked the same pretty much.
We asked the young lady at the counter if it’s new owners or the same from a few years ago and she said that it’s the same owner that it is just seasonal. Only open in summers. She said the owner comes in and cooks ALL the food and baked goods every morning. And that just made us love it even more.
We weee so excited to tell our daughter and she can’t wait to come back with us!
She’s stoked to try the lemon bar again. Because every time she’s had one since, she says “this is really good but still not as good as that one place”.
Okay that’s the end of my super...

Read moreTERRIBLE! Overall experience was bad, the people that served the ice cream were snarky. a kind gentlemen just simply asked if some spoons were clean and one of the young employees that work there said that they swished the spoons around in the toilet, Which I hope is not true. For six scoops of ice cream they charged $50 which is outrageous for the size of the scoops. The next day we went to hunters farms which sells the same ice cream brand and is not far from there. We got scoops for almost 1/3 of the price and the staff were probably 80x more friendly at hunters. We also got some barbecue pork ribs the size of my hand that were $14 dollars each, that number is very very over priced. The ribs were cold lumps of sad pork that had barely any sauce. When my 13 year old son went to pay for all of the over priced items and what I presume is the owner almost left with the credit card. Over all experience was bad and I WILL NEVER...
