Broken Gadget Repairs — Local services in Shenango Township

I almost never leave a one star review, so if you’re reading this: DON’T TRUST THIS PLACE WITH YOUR PHONE!

Yesterday, I brought in my Samsung Note 10+ to have my battery replaced. I did as instructed and charged it to 100%. It worked for maybe 8 hours, then last night around midnight, the screen turned green and now it won’t turn on at all.

This is apparently VERY common with this repair, which I only learned when I Googled it after the problem started.

I NEVER WOULD HAVE CHANGED THE BATTERY IF I HAD BEEN WARNED THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN!

I don’t care what the owner replies: I’m holding him personally responsible for messing up my display that was working perfectly before I went to him. He chose to take my money instead of informing me of the apparently VERY severe risk that he could break my phone display.

I hope that the $59 he charged me was was worth it!

I’m now doing what I should’ve done in the first place and buying a new phone. I just have to pray that I can somehow get my data off of my old phone when it arrives.

You couldn’t pay me to set foot in this dishonest establishment again. Honest business people WARN YOU ABOUT POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS SO YOU KNOW WHAT COULD HAPPEN EVEN IF IT MEANS THAT THEY LOSE THE SALE!

I feel like he’s going to blame the battery because I bought one on Amazon and brought it to him. The problem is again, if you Google it,(which I didn’t know to do because I wasn’t expecting it) THIS ISSUE IS SUPER COMMON AMONG PEOPLE WHO DO THIS REPAIR THEMSELVES AND DEFINITELY SOMETHING A TRUE PROFESSIONAL SHOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT AND WARNED ME COULD HAPPEN!

I brought my phone to someone whom I thought was a professional because the repair looked too difficult to do by myself. I had all the tools in the kit I bought on Amazon. I could’ve broken it myself and not been out $59!

I don’t expect to get my money back from this dishonest, phone-breaking, sorry excuse for a technician, but I hope that people reading this believe me and avoid this place like the plague!

Edit: as expected, he blamed the battery and not his terrible job installing it for my problem. The battery is working fine. I know because I was able to get the Tile app to make my phone make noise - it’s my DISPLAY that he broke because he’s either not as skilled a technician as a random YouTuber or (and I hate to think this) he broke my screen intentionally to get more money out of me because again, HE DIDN’T WARN ME THAT THE SCREEN COULD BE BROKEN BY DOING THIS REPAIR!!!

He’s lying when he said he gave me some special “courtesy discount,” too. I was quoted $59 when I called. I remember that he also quoted me the price to replace my display (over $300), but he offered to throw in the labor for the battery for free if I replaced the screen, too. I told him I was going to wait on that and again, he quoted me $59 before I set foot in the store. His reply just made this feel like more of a scam than I already thought it was.

LOL at “not being welcome there” again.

As you can plainly see, I already said that I wouldn’t go back there even if he paid me. I would literally drive hours out of my way to never go there again. It’s already a half hour from my house, so it’s out of my way to begin with, but I would drive to Pittsburgh before going there again!

I’m not asking for him to make this right, as he quite obviously won’t (and I wouldn’t trust him even if he did, so it’s moot). I only wrote this to warn other people that they should go elsewhere for any repair like this because he doesn’t warn you that your phone can be permanently damaged by changing the battery.

to anyone in new castle, just a warning for anyone that needs to have phone phone repaired. stay away from Adam at Broken Gadget Repair out on 65 across from Auto Zone. I broke the glass on my phone and since verizon would not do anything about repairing it, i had to take it to this guy adam. he ordered a new screen for me and installed it. a couple days later the screen started popping out of the casing. called him to let him know what was going on so he ordered me a new one. after 2 weeks of waiting for the new screen i called to see what was going on with it and they told me that adam said my screen was in but he wouldn't be back till may 2. let them know that if anything happened to my phone from that point on that he would be responsible for a replacement. he got back to the shop and i took the phone it for him to put on the new screen and he told me that he wasn't going to work on my phone since i said that he would be responsible. the phone and the screen were never right and of course he blamed it on me and said that i did something to it. after a short convo with him he hands me a what he called a fully functional phone and told me to keep my old one. i have been trying to charge it now for the past 5 days and i am still unable to charge it. most of the time i have to move the plug around till it starts charging and shortly after that it stops. just called him about it and he tells me once again that i did something to it, and will not do anything to make it right. the long and short of it is that i have one phone that i can't use and the other i can't charge, so now i am out 120..00 and still don't have a phone i can use... SO IF YOU WANT A WORKING PHONE STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY!!!! I would have given him a 0 on the stars but it wouldn't let me post this till i...

Ok !! Here it is . Im not a big review type person nor do I take time to complain . However, today is the day I MUST COMPLIMENT a LOCAL BUSINESS. Right here in New Castle is a business called BROKEN GADGET REPAIR’s . They are the most diligent in the work they do . My I - Phone had seen better days and was a mess . I dropped it off and was told no worries. They are same day service and they explain exactly what they are doing . No surprises. I knew ahead of time what it would cost to repair or fix the problem. I find out they work on all & any phone as well as desk top computers and lap top . But it doesn’t end there . They have the ability for copy machines & fax machines to fix . With today’s communication tools out in the world today . They are on top of all of it . No question about it . Very satisfied customer here and happy to write this...
