We recently held my father's funeral at Winnfield. We chose them because they had taken care of my grandfather's service years ago and their attention to detail was excellent. However, I was surprised to find that this wasn't the case with my father's funeral. Firstly, we were quoted different prices when we met with Romondon in person. We felt that certain things weren't thoroughly explained and he was short with my Mom the day of the viewing which I did not appreciate. Instead of trying to be accommodating he told her there was nothing he could do. Thank you Courtney for stepping in and ensuring that our concerns were addressed. Additionally, I had to work directly with the printer because the updates I forwarded to Romondon were not reaching the printer. Last, it was extremely hot during the services. Fortunately, we met the funeral director, Courtney Johnson, who was incredibly attentive and detail-oriented. He even provided us with his personal cell number for any time contact. Courtney Johnson suggested that we should be refunded for the flowers we had paid for. We had ordered two funeral sprays and one casket spray for the service, but they were not prepared and ready on that day. When I went to pick up my father's pictures, there was no mention of the refund by Ms. Jackson or Romondon. I had to ask them about our refund. They informed us that they had to put in a check request, but did not provide any information on how long it would take. Courtney was very helpful and attentive throughout the entire process, and we are grateful for him and to have met him. Although he wasn't our assigned funeral director, He continued to check on us throughout the service and after. He even called and followed up the day after. Thank you Courtney Johnson for allowing us to lean on you during this difficult time. Ms Fameeka Jackson was our assigned funeral director, however, it was Courtney Johnson who made us feel as though our feelings mattered and it was important to him that we felt heard and taken care of. His personal attention is unmatched. He is excellent at what he does. He has a special gift and Winnfield is very lucky to have him. I wanted to take a moment to provide this review and thank the funeral director, Mr. Courtney Johnson and the staff at the Winnfield Funeral Home in Shreveport, La for their stellar service during the planning and execution stages of the celebration of life services for my mother, Myrtle Pope-Alford.

From the initial conversation with Mr. Johnson, we knew immediately that Winnfield Funeral Home would be providing interment services for our beloved Mother. Courtney’s experience and professionalism was evident and on full display from the beginning. He empathetically made this very difficult process seamless and was not all about selling a package/service. He was intentional in learning every aspect & personal characteristic of our loved one’s life so that he could assure a funeral service that exemplified her magnificent life. Mr. Johnson never wavered in confirming details even making himself available after office hours where he readily answered all of my family’s questions & concerns.

The compassion he gave to our family went over and beyond anyone could ask. If we requested things that may have seemed unconventional, he found a way to bring them into fruition. A gratitude of “thank-you” to Funeral Director, Courtney Johnson and his staff. Courtney is one of the most professional funeral directors in the Shreveport area. He assisted our family through some very difficult and emotional times all the way from San Francisco to Shreveport. He was there for the family in San Francisco as our family member was brought back to Louisiana for her final request of a resting place next to her mother and siblings. Courtney coordinated the entire travel and worked with the funeral director in California to safely bring home our precious family member. Being as professional as Courtney has been trained to be, he did not need much details to finalize everything for our family, because he knew what to do, and how to ease the pain during some trying times. In addition, after all the coordination, and bringing our family member from San Francisco, to Texas to Louisiana, he prepared her expertly for visiting hours, and constantly watching over all arrangements for a graveside burial 45 minutes south of Shreveport. Again, all this was done with careful planning and execution. The family wishes to say a very special “thank-you” to Courtney, his staff, and of course Winnfield Funeral Home.
