I organize a group of about 12-16 guys that travels around Western PA and Eastern Ohio weekly to golf different courses throughout the summer. We were very disappointed in Slippery Rock Golf Course. We usually spend around $30 - $40 per round throughout the summer and this was by far the worst shape course we played the entire summer and it was the most expensive at $50. (I will cut them some slack since we golfed in August, but I'm not referring to summer burnout of fairways or rough.)
On top of the experience, some of us subscribe using the Golf Steel City card. There is a "rule" that you book tee times no more than 24 hours in advance in order to use the card. I have used this card for the past 3-4 years and not one course has ever abided by the day before rule. Including much nicer courses like Birdsfoot. We were denied use of this discount card upon arrival due to not following this rule. I'll accept this since it is a rule and they followed it to the letter of the law and happily paid full price. I will not mention the person by name who denied the use, but he could have been a lot more courteous about it considering we just brought $600 in revenue to the course who has an empty parking lot and nobody else golfing when we arrived. (Granted, it it did get a bit busier later in the morning, but they seemed to have plenty of available tee times so we weren't stealing them away from full paying customers.)
I read other reviews and know this course and events center seems to be on the recovery from a change of ownership or shutdown. I would not recommend golfing here, currently. Hopefully things improve for others and I wish this course and the ownership the...

Slippery Rock plays every bit of its 6098 yards from the tips for a par 70. There is a fair bit of elevation change and more than a few holes play significantly up hill. Some how the few down hill shots don’t seem to play a lot shorter.
The greens were in good shape, but were very deceptive. Depending on the pin position some putts broke 5-7 feet near the hole. It is a course you can not be aggressive with your putting. Some greens definitely seemed slower/faster than others.
The fairways and tee boxes were in very good shape. A bit thin on a few fairways, but they were watering the heck out of the course to keep the playing areas green. Off the fairway even a yard or so and the course played brown, hard and fast.
The only significant water on the course is over a small pond on the short par 3, 11th. There is a narrower stream guarding 13 green. Unless you really spray your tee shots you should finish with the same ball you...

I booked three tee times for a future Sunday with a group of friends just after noon. The course has different rates for morning compared to afternoon.
I booked the times and paid for everyone's golf online. The next day, the golf course pro called me to let me know that the greens had just been aerated and they are hosting a juniors tournament the same afternoon we were scheduled for. He suggested that we could go out a little earlier to get our round in faster and avoid the pace of the youngsters, and he would honor our afternoon rates. He also suggested that if our group wasn't going to be comfortable golfing on the greens with holes punched from the aerating that perhaps we pick a different day, or he could give us a refund.
He even offered to give us a discount for our whole group to golf in the morning including carts.
It was a remarkable service and extension of courtesy that SHOULD be common but is...
