Great clerks. Goodwill industries though, are privately owned franchises, like McDonalds, etc. The "antiques" are priced way above a normal buyer's budget. I suppose they look them up on Ebay and list them at that price. They should look at what the SOLD price is, because that is the reality. Doesn't matter, this franchise owner gets their items for FREE. The profits go to the owner, they may employ some people, but basically it is a high priced "antique" store with the profits fattening the owner's pockets. Now if they pay their employees very well, because they work hard, I don't mind paying high for something. Now if they don't want antique dealers coming in and getting a deal to resale, the "antique dealers" usually are people with booths for resale, and they work hard too, paying rent and sitting on things for months. So what if they buy it to resell?? Goodwill gets things FOR FREE! Everyone is struggling these days. When I see young families in there and elderly people, on a fixed income, disabled people like myself, picking things up and putting it back, it really gets my goat. I am a frequent buyer, I am trying to decorate the house I scrimped and saved for to retire in and live out my days. There was a painting I liked in the window, $100.00. I asked if they could do better, no, they cannot reduce anything for 3 months. Beverage glasses with some flowers on, $7.99 EACH. Women I spoke to in the shop, and basically, all over the nation, say the prices are unrealistic. Shame on you for taking free items and pricing them out of reach for most people. There was a stuffed Rudolf in there and has the unbelievable price of $50.00!! C'mon now. Modern day carpetbaggers. I'm sure it's all tax...
Read moreStopping resellers which is why you raise prices? Ridiculous reason for pulling up prices to almost retail. Resellers are trying to make a living just like everyone else. Especially during these COVID times. Some might even be Senior Citizens who can't work and do need extra funds to survive. Also, resellers have to pay for their own goods to sell and have overhead costs. You people may have overhead, but the products you get are free. I have donated thousands of dollars of things. Therefore, as free donations to help those with less, they need to be priced as such. So EVERYONE can afford to get nice things. Or to help out during tough times. You are taking advantage of people`s hard times, which in my opinion is morally wrong of you to do. Also, when you overpriced things then nobody wants to buy which hurts the business. So, in the end you lose. Also, I read on another review where an employee raises prices so nobody will buy them and then they will have dibs on it. Another morally wrong thing to do. Thrift shops need to remain as such so as to maintain their integrity. If not, where else are less fortunate people going to go to...
Read moreI am Elena. I am from Bedford County, PA. My first language is Russian. I and my friend love to visit the retail store in Bedford PA Goodwill. I find that clothes store has nice and convenient things. But yesterday I and my friend got awful experience. One of these stor workers, one of the oldest ladies, has misconduct towards me and my friend. It was discriminating yelling, and no patient points towards us. That lady reminded me of an old schol racist person. I hope so that Goodwill corporate pay attention for my comments...
