Bob's Motor & Pump Repair — Local services in South Bradenton

A very nice ma and pa operation by Bob and Louise. Bob is very knowledgeable, has decades of pump and motor experience. Louise assists in pump repairs as well as the admin stuff. They have a small garage storage shop in Sarasota where they work on the pumps. I was pleasantly surprised how quickly they were able to service my pump in a vacation rental, only one day in the shop. I feel myself fortunate to be able to find them. He has a good stock of rebuilt motors and pump housings at very reasonable prices. I walked in with 2 pumps and walked out with 3 after I bought a spare. The only down side for me was that I had to remove the pump myself and take to his shop, then pick up and re-install. It would be great if they could hire a helper to do some of the field work but I understand that it would increase complexity and liability in a small business. I found them very accommodating when they met me outside of their normal hours to drop off and pick up my pump. It’s best to call ahead to make sure they are there and let them know you're coming as they may not be in the shop. Most of the local pool servicing places don’t want to deal with repairs, they would rather sell you a new one. It’s a shame they become landfill when all that’s usually wrong is worn bearings, a leaky seal or cracked impeller. Bob will give you an honest assessment whether your pump is serviceable or time for a new one or even one of his re-builts. The re-built I bought had what appeared new innards, like circuit terminal board and capacitor.

We were visiting family from Upstate NY for the 4th of July weekend when Friday their pool pump bearings started screaming.

We called around and left messages. Monday being the holiday, on Tuesday morning I received a text from Bobs stating to call first but I could drop the motor off.

I showed up at 9 am and was told it would be fixed that day. I returned to my sisters and received a call back stating it was ready. A 1 hour turn around time.

There are 4 very happy children and 4 extremely grateful parents who appreciate your efforts!

Please support this business. This is a Local Mom and Pop business that I took my broken pool pump to be repaired. They gave me an estimate upfront and did the rebuild. He didn’t cut corners or patch it together. It operates as good, if not better than new. He explained everything thing he did and warranty’s his work.
