I have a Whirpool dishwasher (Model WDF520PADM5). The heating element (Part # W10518394) on this dishwasher broke. I know how to replace it, but unfortunately its very hard to get parts now...waiting time on this particular part is over a month. I called Home-Tech in Lakewood Ranch, FL and told them I need the heating element replaced. Lady on the phone (Peggy) said it will be $99 to come out + parts & labor and she said someone will be here between 10 am and 12 noon. Technician arrived at 10 am and as soon as he opened the dishwasher he said it needs a new heating element, and wait time is about 10 days! and he writes me an invoice for $99 for coming out to my house and telling me what I already knew (They wanted another $325 to come back and replace a part that cost $79 at Whirlpool site & $35 on Amazon). I was very specific on my call explaining what I needed replaced. Why would they send out a technician and charge $99 if they did not have the part that needed to be replaced? It seems like they sent a tech out to my house just so they could charge their basic $99 fee! What this company did today seems very outrageous.

UPDATE TO BELOW RESPONSE FROM COMPANY: They never sent any estimate before I wrote this review, as they claim in their response. This company is outright lying about that and didn't take any action until after I first posted the original review. Also, the response below makes excuses for the Tech being on the phone during my repair as if the calls pertained to my repair - another fabrication. The phone calls I experienced were incoming that he answered...not any outgoing calls discussing my repair (as the response below alleges.) Let me be clear, this isn't on the Tech, I assume he's a very capable individual, he's simply following mgr rules. I've been employed in the past by terrible decision-making mgrs, so I feel his pain. This deceit is on the shoulders of the Bradenton office mgr. Look, all I can do at this stage is warn consumers before you make the mistake of using them, like I did. It's up to you after reading this review. Since my last review, I called another established repair company in Bradenton who provided a written estimate on the spot and had a much lower fee to review the diagnostic...and have since successfully repaired our fridge. I highly recommend you shop around. IMO, you can do better on lower up front fees and avoid such an erroneous experience. Here's the original review: Scam. They quoted on phone 129.00 to come out and do "diagnostic" on fridge repair. I had entire fridge cleared out for easy access. Tech was looking at fridge while also taking several work calls discussing people on vacation and other jobs, and he also asked me to come over and help him with the diagnostic! At the end, being there about 25 min, proceeds to tell me he was over the allowed 15 min and total cost was now actually 175.00!! You read that correctly, 175.00 JUST for the diagnostic. I guess I had to pay for his phone calls and I was charged extra for helping him!! Didn't even leave a written estimate of needed repairs, he said office would follow up but they never sent anything. I called twice and was told they would send - 5 days later...still nothing. Oh, I actually got 2 email follow ups from their office trying ONLY to sell me a services contract, but when I asked for the 1 thing I spent 175.00 on - a simple written estimate of repairs - nothing! Folks, IMO and direct experience, this is a scam, so all I can do is notify my HOA who also sends to all surrounding networked HOA's of this experience. I highly recommend you call competing services and avoid the scam I...

7/17/2025 - Daniel (#2008) provided our annual maintenance on our AC today. He was very professional, thorough and detailed on the service. Daniel was very friendly and gave us a great description of our Trane AC unit. Thank you

7/10/2024 Dave (#842) Came out late evening again for a different reason because our house temperature was 84 degrees after our AC unit stop running. Turned out the compressor didn't reset properly after a power outage. Dave was super helpful, showed me what to look for if it happens again and was able to get our house cooling again. Thank you!!!

7/7/2024 Dave (#842) Came out late evening because our house temperature was 86 degrees after our AC unit stop running. Turned out the drain line was clogged. Dave is very knowledgeable and does a great job on all of our appliances. We appreciate Dave's help!!! Thank you!!!

Despite several bad series of communications with the Ft. Myers office in scheduling the appointment, when Dave 842 showed up ON TIME to look at my all-in-one rooftop A/C unit which my condo association said was dripping water onto the newly installed roof, I found Dave to be thoroughly polite and competent. When the call was first made, I stated it was NOT and emergency, and described the issue; I also told the office I wanted to schedule the annual maintenance check. They told me the first issue had to be treated as an emergency and they would schedule the annual maintenance visit for a month or so after the service call. When the technician showed up, I explained the situation and asked why it couldn't all be done at the same time, since he was already here. He agreed, called his supervisor, and got both calls completed in one trip. No issues since.

Note: the 5-Star rating for this review applies to the technician (Dave 842), and NOT to how the company handled the calls for service. In addition to the above I had asked them NOT to call me before 11AM (I work late). Both times they called me, it was a little after 8AM, They also said the tech would call me when he was 15 minutes from my house, and they gave me a 10AM-Noon window, He never called, just showed up on the dot of 10AM. When I told him the office said he would call on his way, he said, "I don't know why they told you that...you are my first call of the day, and we only call customers who are after the first stop of the day, because we never know how long that first appointment will take." Made sense to me. Now, if someone could just educate the people who work the phones for this company, that...
