Fannette Island — Local services in South Lake Tahoe

Worth the adventure to get here! You've got a few options. Kayak from Emerald Bay (after hiking down the hill), kayak from another beach such as Baldwin Beach (no hike, longer kayak), or cruise by on a boat/jet ski.

We opted for the Emerald Bay kayak and it was a highlight of our trip. Parking is very limited and you've got to get there EARLY, but once you're on the kayak it's incredible. The tea house is in ruins but makes for lovely photo ops.

If you have some inflatable stand up paddle boards, it is worth the energy to pack them down to the emerald bay state park. There is a small beach and you can paddle board over to Fannette Island. There are a lot of little cliffs to jump off of and the little house at the top of the island is pretty neat. It is a pretty long hike back up the hill and you better bring some water.
