As an occasional renter of their cabins over the last 20 years, I was disappointed at their approach to the COVID-19 pandemic. They now require that customers waive COVID-19 liabilities for any reason, even if it was caused by them.
As to whether a hotel business, regardless of their status of for-profit or nonprofit can make its customers waive all liabilities for COVID-19 transmission--even for gross negligence by failing to abide by health and sanitation standards (e.g., not properly sanitizing, allowing COVID-19 positive employees to work, etc.)--will ultimately be up to the courts but businesses that require such broad waivers from liability appear, at least to me, to be going against public policy of health safety--and the requirement to waive any and all liabilities due to COVID-19 after you have paid, even if it was caused by their gross negligence, is legally unconscionable and would likely be void even if the customer signs it. The ethical thing for these businesses to do is to abide by health and safety protocols pertaining to their business and have sufficient liability insurance should their employees commit gross negligence--rather than attempting to bypass liability with a legally questionable COVID-19 waiver--after payment.
Their legally questionable actions to avoid liability as a "Christian" organization brings disrepute to an honorable and...
Read moreThis place offered affordable pricing for the New Year's celebration. Me and my friends rented a house for 6+ people for only around $260 for three nights. The quality of the house was good, it offered a nice wooden finish, but the floors on the basement level were somewhat soft and I think had no boards. However both the top floor and the basement floor were heated 24hrs and it was very comfortable when it was 30F outside. Within a walking distance (2 mins) there is a beach that is protected by a pier offering a view of the whole lake Tahoe. During a hot summer I presume it would be possible to wade or even swim in the lake and use the beach. One downside is that the driveway access from the highway is a bit risky and if you are coming from the south you might need to turn around and come back if there is a lot of oncoming traffic that you can't really see since it is on a turn or you miss the driveway that is barely visible from the first approach. On the other hand, Safeway is 4 minutes south of the place and Heavenly is only about 15 minutes away. If you absolutely need, Costco is about 20 minutes away on the other side of the mountain at the...
Read moreI came here for the summer High Camp. Originally I wanted to do Base Camp, but it was full so I was placed into High Camp. The first day was fun, I got to swim in the lake and eat pretty good food, and get drinks from the soda fountain. The second day we left, and went over Kit Carson Pass on the Pacific Crest Trail, and camped out at Meiss Meadow. The next day, we hiked to Round Lake and met with the High School Camp. We were given the opportunity to swim in the lake, but it wasn’t the best for swimming as it was fairly shallow. While here, one of our water bags broke, and we were stuck here for many hours until a new one arrived. As a treat for waiting, the person who came to bring a new one also brought donuts from TV Donuts (really good by the way). I remember yelling “Donuts! Donuts!” and every kid swarming them. Then we hiked to Dardanelles Lake. That lake was good for swimming and we held swimming contests form one side to the other. The next day we came back to Zephyr Point, and ate a great Tri Tip. The only problem I had was that when I looked up the trail layer, I saw that it was only around 5 miles, which was easily...
