Lived at Spanish Lake Townhomes for a year and it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. Do not, and I repeat, DO NOT move there. You will regret it. We were in one of the "refurbished" townhomes and if this was the best they had to offer, I would hate to see the worst.
With no proper seals on the front or patio doors, all manner of gnats and ants would make their way inside. We could literally see daylight where the front door SHOULD meet the step.
The "wood floor" is just faux wood snap vinyl. Unfortunately, no one cleaned or fixed the concrete floor underneath, so the vinyl had a lot of hollow dips from the holes and crunch from piles of gravel under it. Since the carpets also had no padding, the same crunching could be found upstairs.
We were told our unit would have a washer/dryer. It didn't. We were then told we would be offered a new unit in 6 months that did. We weren't. Yes, there was a laundry unit on site, but we never got to see it or use it. This is because the laundry facility and fitness center are only available during office hours and the office treats these posted hours as vague suggestions at best.
Our FIRST flood was soon after we first moved in. A water pipe burst while the workers were working in the bathroom of the empty apartment next door. The workers quickly bailed leaving the water shooting like a fountain. Our first floor flooded UNDER and up through the faux wood floorboards. We had to call the emergency line to get someone BACK to fix it only for them to pretend to act so totally shocked that this random thing happened. It took months for the mould smell in our apartment to go away.
They fired maintenance people, but didn’t take the master keys away from them or notify anyone about this. Someone WALKED INTO OUR HOME WHILE WE WERE UPSTAIRS and started going through our things. They ran away when we started shouting. Maintenance came, changed our locks, and informed us of the whole firing situation. The police informed us that security has been an ongoing issue with this company. The officer even told us that the office refused to hire security or to set up security cameras as "they weren’t willing to spend any more money on this place." On top of that, the would-be robber came back the next day and when their key didn’t work, they tried the window and the patio door (while I was on the phone with 911). We had to spend money we didn't have on a security system for our own protection. We later found out that we weren’t the only ones this happened to in the complex and that the main office treated them the same: just changed their locks without informing or warning any of their neighbours. And honestly, it doesn't help that the area we were in lacks ANY sort of nighttime lighting outside.
The SECOND flood was under the SAME floorboards as the last, but this time it was SEWER WATER. While the maintenance people were fighting ALL DAY to get it all fixed, the main office locked their doors and refused to answer the phone for us or FOR THE MAINTENANCE PEOPLE. The maintenance people were so confused, but they got it fixed with the help of Roto-Rooter. We never could get in contact with the front office. No one would answer the phone and their mailbox was always full. We had to throw away our nearly $1K rug since no rug cleaner would take it due to it being a biohazard. In fact, living there at this point greatly affected our health. It took over a week for the sewer water to stop bubbling up whenever we walked on the first floor, but the sewer smell NEVER went away. My elderly mother and I got pretty ill from breathing that everyday. We went from mild symptoms like headaches, fatigue, and dry coughs to nosebleeds, asthma attacks, and coughing up blood. That’s when we broke the lease and ran. If they cannot provide a safe environment to live in, we should not be paying rent...
Read moreIf I could put the middle finger as a rating I definitely would! First, I’d like to say this company have made a few changes in the name, slapped some paint on the outside added new stuff on the inside but didn’t fix anything! Simply put a band aide on it to make it more appealing to the eye! When I stayed there a month after moving in my apartment began to flood. I’ve sent several emails with no response put in maintenance request just for them to mark as done but never even showed up. Went into the office several times and spoke with D.Townsend sweet lady but she didn’t get anything done. Instead reassure me that it would be ok and she wouldn’t have her son out here if she didn’t think it would be a suitable place. Months went by with nothing done. I did however receive an email stating that the leak was coming from the outside where there was a big hole and a lot of shingles missing.Hospitalized several times while pregnant due to exposure to mold. And falling after stepping down into large puddle. After I stopped paying rent is. When they decided to send someone without me being home(which I specifically stated maintenance is not to enter without me being there due to them hiring ppl that weren’t even certified and a few I know didn’t get a background check done.. that same day they went in unannounced my diamond earrings came up missing along with $200 that was on my nightstand upstairs in my room.( a area they shouldn’t have even been in) when emailed about it I received no reply . I went into the office and they stated they didn’t send anybody in although I was notified about a service being completed (& it wasn’t) . I verbally told D Townsend that I would be moving out within a month due to the carelessness and hazardous environment. They still proceed to charge me for months after I had informed her and physically moved out. Totaling out to $5,160 that is now on my credit. I have emails and pictures mind you this was supposed to have been an updated unit 🤦🏽♀️. These pictures do no justice I wish I could upload the videos of the outside as well as inside along with screenshots of the...
