The problem with this flea market for starters is the way they don't make it clear that there is parking in the rear. That pushes everyone to the top of the hill and leaves the back of the market empty. The next problem is that the top of the hill is full of the same vendors every week. If they would allow NEW people in to sell there might be a variety every now and then but no, you've got the same old sellers who have fire hazard type storage in the permanent spots bringing their same old garbage up the hill clogging up those tables too. It leaves no room for new comers. Just the same old boring garbage. The bottom of the hill is desolate due to 0 knowledge to anyone except someone who's lived in Spartanburg 70 years knowing that there is parking in the rear. This is a good area for a flea market and the town needs one but they need one that's better run, better maintained and has someone who's actually caring about making it a substantial market. The restaurant is a whole nother issue. You better know them WELL by being a regular or be the same race as the staff or you will absolutely be waiting until everyone who is gets their food first. Also, don't leave without checking your food. You WILL be shorted. Last time they shorted me a whole order of fries and an order of onion rings AFTER I waited almost 30 minutes for them to cook the food of people they were familiar with first 🙃 It truly is a shame that they don't get someone in there to really market that place and make it what it could be. In it's hayday that was a good flea market. They could easily compete with the one in Greer with the right marketing.
Edited to add: I ages that something needs to be done about the animal selling but that isn't just this market. That's all of them around here that I've been too. Including the...
Read moreI'm a recycle-type mom and a bargain hunter so I am usually looking at thrift stores and flea markets before I purchase almost anything new. This has always been one of my favorite flea markets, but here recently, the place has gone way WAY down hill. Don't waste your time. SERIOUSLY. The people who sell have purchased or stolen goods from stores and are trying to sell everything at RETAIL PRICE. New's flash: I'm not buying a good from someone for the same price I can buy it at Wal-Mart for. Also, the same people are there every weekend selling the same things that obviously did not sell the week before. The place is filthy and the bottom rows are slam packed with old rotting furniture and it's a nasty law suit waiting to happen. I don't...
Read moreFlea market looks pretty fun down but once you enter, there are more stores open than it appears when you park the car. There are a lot of sellers peddling Knick knacks. I come for the produce. There are a few Hispanic and Asian produce sellers and these booths are frequently the busiest.
I am a huge fan of the Mexican truck that is here in Saturday’s and Sunday’s. This is some of the best Mexican food I’ve had in the Southeast and I’ve lived in California. I highly recommend the Gordita which is incredibly fresh with carnitas. The carnitas was perfectly salted. The truck serves a red salsa and a green salsa and the red one set my mouth on fire but I couldnt...
