I ordered the menudo with tortillas and a michilada. The menudo can use a little work. Spice or salt was missing. Couldn’t really pin point the ingredient out. The cilantro looked old and withered. It wasn’t bad and the homemade tortillas and michilada did make it much better. I will certainly return even for the menudo. I certainly enjoyed the atmosphere. It’s nice to see a community supporting these businesses. Was unaware there were many Latinos here in SC. Seems they all showed up to La Fonda on a Saturday afternoon.

Terrific authentic Mexian food in an unassuming location; don't judge this book by its cover. I had the three taco combo plate with nopales (cactus), polo (chicken), and carne (beef) tacos. All were delicious. The obligatory rice and beans were very tasty, not at all the sub-par fare we've all been trained to expect from Mexican restaurants. And you'll find no sweet tea on the menu. I was told by our friendly and attentive waitress that the owner doesn't think that its authentic (and rightfully so!).

Someone told me about this place, little hard to get to, but you'll find it with little help from Google maps, the place may not look like much on the outside but the food was great and when they do home made tortillas you know is a real mexican restaurant not the ones for gringos, my order was very generous as well, defintly felt like my mother cooked for me.

This place is no joke if you want authentic Mexican food! It is family owned, and the patrons are hard working families there after a long day. While traveling to NC from GA for a conservative summit, we looked online for a Mexican restaurant with great ratings. This place popped up and I told my family that’s where we were headed. When you get there, it doesn’t look like much, but it is now my favorite “hole in the wall gold mines Mexican food stop”. The food is outstandingly amazing; the portion sizes are insane for the price. Did I mention how freaking outstanding the food is? The atmosphere is warm with authentic music playing. The chairs and tables are worn but clean; and with you people waking up to this place and eating there, the young fellow working his tail off in the back will be able to dress up the place. Seriously, if I am traveling on 85 and I am hungry, I am going there. Give it a try, even if...
