Elks Lodge 2582 — Local services in Spring Hill

The Elks are a wonderful organization. They helped finance my son's leukemia chemotherapy. My son was 5 years of age. Our family grew up around the elks. Son is now 43.

I was going to join this Elks some years ago when 8 moved to Florida. By then women were allowed BUT only in the auxiliary. If we wanted to join the men's part we had to reapply and have a sponsor.

After raising thousands of dollars for handicapped children previously which the men took credit for, I must admit that I resented having to get a man to sponsor me for membership here in Spring Hill/Brooksville.

The Elks antlers have been broken off and not replaced or fixed?

I do hope this lodge has lots of members. If so, my prior experiences were good ones and one makes lasting friends. So important when moving from another state into Florida. The north and the south are still the north and the south. Never the twain...
