I'm in the middle of my second year here. I only renewed my lease because my job is close by but I cannot wait to move out! The deposit and rent plus utilities is affordable. Nothing bad has happened (that I know of) since I've been here. But, the management is the worst I've ever had (and I've lived in 7 different states)!! In the lease it says you have until the 15th to pay with late fees but they try and evict you after 1 day of being late. They always seem to give you a second or final notice about issues but never a first notice. And no one ever answers the phone or your email when you try to fix the problem. There are random fees they constantly try to charge you with because they never add anything right and get apartments confused with each other. I even had my rent check be charged to someone else's account because they had my name in their system wrong. They tried to charge me $60 to fix something and when I bought it myself they still wanted money for the maintenance guy to take literally 5 Seconds to fix it so I just did it myself to which they still tried to charge me because I'm not allowed to fix anything myself. One person will tell you that you're up-to-date on fees and another will say you randomly owe hundreds of dollars. I even had to add a fee with someone on the phone to show them they were off by over $100! There has been a lot of construction which has its positive and negative because they are improving the place slowly but it's a constant struggle to find parking. The maintenance guys are extremely nice but I don't think the office supplies them with everything they need because I still have unfixed things I've been asking about for over a year now. They also take their time fixing anything you ask about. The dryers in the laundry facilities don't ever seem to work so I'd suggest having your own or going to a laundromat. The pools are nice and they are usually pretty clean. However, if you're looking for a place to stay I'd suggest...
Read moreMy rent has been raised every year since moving in. I received no discount the very, first year even though I was a new tenant. Every year they raise the rent and offer even less off as an incentive to sign an new lease. The maintenance staff is pretty incompetent. They do shoddy work and, have to return multiple times to fix something correctly. A/C problems? You're going to cook. The excuse(poor airflow into rooms)? "This is how the apartments were built. Sorry, we can't do anything more."
Yes, there have been roaches. Yes, crime is on the upswing. Yes, there have been times the dumpsters have been over-flowing. Yes, the laundry facilities are in a shambles. Half of the washers/dryers don't work. Many times the facilities are closed/opened at the wrong times. Basically, whenever they get around to it. And yes, all these things have been reported to the management MULTIPLE times! They ignore it all.
Cheaper isn't necessarily better. Just because some tenants haven't seemed to experience these issues doesn't mean many others have not. Clearly, loyalty plays no part in the running of this community. Re-letting rather than tenant retention seems to be their only concern. It costs more to re-let but, apparently management doesn't care about this. The ole', "It's the market rates. We can't do anything about the costs" is just a catch-phrase they fall back on. Water billing has gone up some, as well. Allocated water billing is the theme for the day. The water company raises the price due to the complex' numbers. Since Harvey, all rates have gone up. Methinks the owner is trying to recoup losses, even though insurance is a thing. Just my opinion, I'm sure.
At any rate, I can't consciously recommend this property to anyone. You'd be better off...
Read moreHorrible place to live and so glad to be gone. Rene is unfriendly and rude. She accused us of stealing a mailbox key when we first moved there. Trash dumpsters are always overflowing and it didn't matter how clean you keep your Apartment because you'll still have roaches. Water bill for our 2 bedroom apartment would run as high as $90 plus, not to mention how many times they had no hot water because of pipes busting. Bathtub was resurfaced 3 times and peeled again because their too cheap to replace it. Mailboxes were broken into several times. Lease was up end of December and we were buying a house but our closing date was delayed until January 16th. Found out if we wanted to stay for those 15 days we would pay market rate plus an extra 25% plus a holding fee for which they couldn't give us a dollar amount. As a result of the outrageous cost to stay an extra 15 days and them not caring about our situation we moved out, put all our things in storage and are living in a hotel for 2 weeks until we close on our house. The holding fee was because they had already leased out nour apartment and the fee was for inconveniencing the person moving in. Even though the person moving in already lived on the property and didn't want to move into our apartment until February 1st. They don't care about...
