Maramec spring is the birthplace of Maramec river. This place is around 90 minutes drive from Saint Louis. The natural beauty is absolutely mind blowing. The place is full of greenery. The walk trail to the spring is stroller friendly and it is a comfortable walk for all ages. The exact starting point, the spring, is not too wide or big but it is flown somewhere overflown covering a large land and wet land area. The speciality of this spring is the source of the river is underground. I have seen this for the first time. It is creating a beautiful small waterfall nearby that renders an awesome photo shoot spot. In selected areas the authority is making a fishery of trout fish. It is open for fishing under tickets and at a designated area. Still now the iron extraction site, factory, part of old fixtures are in existence. There is a museum, very neat and clean, a species of snake is kept there alive as a habitat of the place. From the museum exhibits we get to know the underground structure of the place, it is made up of marble and known as cave town. The museum is really academically very rich. We went to the historic drive to the old iron mine, it...
Read morePlease forgive my photos. I only use my phone camera. I grew up in another state living very close to a state park. It was my favorite place. You can get a year's access to visit the park for $50 (trout sticker $5 additional per person) for your car. Anyone in the car is covered by that entrance sticker. Otherwise, I believe it's still $5 for a day pass (trout sticker is an additional $5 per person). They have several shelters and some playground stuff for the kids. I go there often and would recommend a...
