The Nada Tunnel, known as the gateway to Red River Gorge, is a breathtaking one-lane tunnel on a two-lane road. Carved through thick limestone, this 900-foot-long passage along KY RT 77 was originally a 1910 train tunnel. With no lights inside, it has an eerie, almost otherworldly feel. Could only imagine what it's like passing through at night! Local legend even claims the tunnel is haunted by a climber who fell to his death nearby, with some reporting a mysterious green light glowing from within. In fact, according to dangerousroads.org, the Nada Tunnel ranks among the most haunted tunnels on Earth!
I was beyond excited to finally experience it for myself! As we approached, the road narrowed, adding to the anticipation. We gave a honk, turned on our brights, and plunged into the darkness. While we didn’t have a ghostly encounter, we did have a hauntingly good time, making a lifelong memory in this historic and mysterious tunnel. If you're in the Red River Gorge area, this is a must-see adventure!
Enjoying life 1 sip, 1 bite and 1 small town at a time!...
Read moreLunch Bucket - EXCEPTIONAL VALUE!!!! New breakfast, lunch, and dinner place just as you turn on to Nada Tunnel Rd. if you are visiting the RRG. Diverse menu, mainly consisting of basic American fare. Good quality food so far! We went there on the fourth day they had been open. We had double cheese burgers with french fries and onion rings. We topped it off with some of their funnel cake fries which were pretty dang good. The prices were very reasonable and the service was great! This is not a sit down place if that is what you are looking for. There looked to be a few seats outside. However when you are surrounded by the RRG and the Daniel Boone, there many better places to sit and eat your meal. I cant wait to see what this new little place will do in the near future! They are off to a...
