Internal Revenue Service (IRS) — Local services in Staunton

Not sure what other reviewers are so worked up about. Security is no fun, but the guard was professional, fairly polite, and efficient. The IRS lady that helped us was unreal helpful, and despite that we had no appointment, she came and greeted us as soon as security was cleared, and told us what conference room to go to. She then did her level best to help us (it was a fairly complex problem, involving tax returns from years ago, an elderly client, multiple children of that client, as well as his care giver presenting their understanding of the issues.

The IRS Lady was clear about the boundaries of what she could discuss without a POA, questioned us to determine all that we knew, reviewed the documents we brought, and laid out a very clear and reasonable plan of how we should proceed.

Her experience, clarity of thought, vast experience and knowledge of IRS regulations and Tax law, as well as her kind and gentle manner, were all very much appreciated, and resulted in the client being much less stressed and somewhat overjoyed upon hearing the news....

I mean really, what more could you want?

Lady was INCREDIBLY rude, disrespectful, unhelpful, unknowledgable, cruel and racist. Yes. I said it! She is black and we are a white couple. She flat out stated that we were more worried about our deceased 21 year old son's money than the paperwork we need to do. We brought the paperwork and everything we needed and she would not look at anything or do anything for us. She was wanting to go to lunch and kept looking at clock. She could have cared less. The IRS is NOT keeping our son's money. My husband and I wept ALL morning getting all of his paperwork together. No parent should ever have to look at their child's death certificate. Then she would not even look at the documents or help us. The person who set up our appointment was extremely nice and helpful and told me all of the documents I needed for my appointment. Pray no other people endure this cruel and unfair treatment. We need to speak up...

I was treated very poorly. Left in tears when just seeking help. Was told multiple times she did not care what I was told elsewhere and this was after arguing with me I did not have an appointment when I most definitely did. Complained how over worked she was and after having to walk out refused to give me her FEDERAL employee number. D told the security guard to escort me out. I would travel elsewhere for an appointment this woman hates her job and does NOT want to...
