We went to the Cross Timbers Fine Arts museum to see a display of western art. It was advertised in the Stephenville newspaper and on their website to be shown through August 31. We were there August 29. The hostess said they had packed away the western art display the day before! Three days before the posted conclusion date!
We were very disappointed!
Perhaps there were few visitors to this western art display, or some other valid reason. It would have been a courtesy to put that information in the local newspaper and their website.
Additional concerns about the museum includes no obvious parking! The museum has a half-circle drive. Perhaps that's where parking is available??? Or on the street??
The problem with both is the lack of the ability to get a wheelchair easily from the street especially against the curb for the wheelchair. The hald-circle drive has the same problem. Additionally, even if we parked and tried to get onto the sidewalk, there is NO sidewalk ramp, consequently I suppose jumping the curb is expected??
The front door has a single step up into the building; NO sidewalk ramp into the building. This building was obviously built after 1990 when the Americans with Disabilities Act was enacted, so the facility is in violation of the federal law for accessibility.
We were sorely disappointed in our attempt to visit an art museum here. We wanted to first view the display and then return with our grandchildren. Unfortunately, we were unable to do that. It's a disappointment to be limited in cultural opportunities for ourselves and for our young...
Read moreThe Cross Timbers Fine Arts Council is a wonderful organization. My children love their art camps each year. My husband and I enjoy attending their events as well. I love that they provide fine art opportunities like music and plays to schools in the area at no cost. I also love their paint the town classes!...
