The restaurant was nice...atmosphere was good, waitress very attentive, and menu had plenty of options to cover our group's taste. We had a reservation for 11 people (made 2 months in advance). Everything started off fine, but after ordering we found out after waiting over 1.5 hours that they did not have enough ribeye steaks. So we had to order a different cut..not a huge deal, but not sure why it took them so long to mention this. We continued to wait for our food. Finally, when our food did arrive (after waiting 2 hours), it was room temperature at best. My son's steak was very under cooked. Someone in oir group ordered salmon with asparagus...everything cold. We ate our food because we had been waiting for 2 hours and were starving! We spoke to the owner's wife and explained the issues. She in turn shifted the problem on us! Stating that they were busy and that everyone's food was delayed. Then she stated that they should not have booked a reservation for that night because they knew they would be busy!!! Wouldn't a reservation give you more of a heads up? They kept saying "sorry" but would give an excuse (Sorry, but you shouldn't have been able to book a reservation. Sorry, but we had 180 people.) and expected us to be OK with this. We tipped the waitress well and expressed our appreciation for her efforts. The owners were unprofessional, borderline rude and even though the food had the potential of being good...eating a steak, mashed potatoes and squash at room temperature, cold grilled salmon, cold asparagus, and an extremely under cooked steak is an issue. Out of 11 meals, only one person was happy with their meal. If you go somewhere and pay for a service, you would still expect things to be done correctly even if you were busy! Yes, you may have to wait longer than usual, but the quality should be the same no matter what...that is what you are paying for. It should not be the customer's problem that you are busy and not prepared. They did give us a break on the price, but still kept bringing up the fact that they were busy and they weren't sure how we even got a reservation.

Read moreMy son and daughter live in Stephenville, and we have passed this place heading home many times. My wife finally talked me into driving in from Glen Rose to try it out. We were not disappointed. When we walked in, there was not a host to greet us, but as I was getting ready to wander into the dining room, I was surprised by the owner/chef offering to seat us. He was extremely friendly. He waved a server over to get us started and stopped to talk to every table on his way back to the bar. You can tell he appreciates his customers. The majority of the staff was very friendly and upbeat. The person that brought our appetizer was the only exception and they dropped the appetizer off without a smile, but it did not bother me. Starters: The crawfish appetizer was very flavorful. My only critique is the lack of crunchiness in the breading. My wife enjoyed a Texas Tea and noted it was "poured" very well. One more of those and my night might have ended on a different note. Entrees: My wife ordered the pork chop, and I got the Ribeye (capitalized out of respect). Both were delicious and cooked perfectly. The chipotle mashed potatoes were fantastic, and I even enjoyed whatever the green vegetable was that came with it. The seasoning was exceptional. I usually salt my food when I eat out and there was no need to this time. And then came the Deserts!! Top notch bread pudding and the cheesecake we ordered to-go for my son was also delicious (we took a bite, but hey, we paid for it!). Is this place perfect, absolutely not, but it is very close unless you are a stuffy individual always looking for problems. I'm talking to you Karen. The prices are not cheap, but not expensive for what you get in my opinion. We...
Read moreMet my son there for his birthday. I called before hand to ask if we could bring a cake, she put me on hold came back and said it was fine that they couldn’t store it in the fridge and there’s a cake cutting fee. That’s all she said. I assumed if they cut the cake and served it there would be a fee(which is weird) because the place is so expensive to begin with. So we cut our own cake and served it. Got the bill and they charged us $25, $5 a person because we used their plates and forks and her staff has to wash them. After talking to the owner she discounted $12.50 because we ordered a dessert. The hostess should’ve gave more details of the fee and why they charge it. I wouldn’t had brought in a cake or brought in my own forks and plates, not sure if they charge for throwing the paper plates away. Also I ordered party in a cup(coffee with Bailey’s) when I drink liquor I get flushed face turns really red for like 2 minutes. I got the coffee and took a drink, nothing no taste of liquor no smell of liquor and no redness. I asked the waitress about it she again got the owner. The owner brought me a shot to put in it, as soon as I took a drink face turned red.. they made it right but still it was strange. Food was good. I’d split the chicken fried steak and share it, it’s huge(huge as in takes up the entire plate even spilt it’s still big) but they also charge $5 to split it.$5 for bread and butter.. nothing is commentary at all. Place was okay, not fancy at all just ordinary. Drink menu was decent(not sure on how much liquor they put in drinks)… We won’t be back but we like to try new places,...
