ZERO STARS! Horrible experience in passport office. Making our long story as short as possible: per the state department website it says you must call to set up an appointment. We tried over the course of 2 days and not once did anyone answer our calls (at least 15) at this location. As you can see from other reviews, this is not a new problem. The state dept site is where you download the application and get information on all documents required. So you would think it would be a trustworthy site to get information from, no?
So this morning, my husband leaves work and I drag my 11 month old (who needs the passport) and my 2 year old down to the post office since we canāt get anyone to answer the phone to make an appointment. (All parents will sympathize with me here!) We decide to try to walk in and see if we can submit in person without an appointment. We walk in and there is a woman finishing up her application process and leaves. We are in an EMPTY ROOM with only the male worker. He asks if we have an appt and we explain that we tried to make one. He tells us we need to make one online and itās by appointments only. We explain that on THE STATE DEPARTMENT WEBSITE that it says to call. This worker says, āwell I donāt know about thatā and stands firm that we need an appointment. We look online (again, as we sit in an empty room with no one else waiting) to see when the next appt is. It says not for another 4 days. At this point, I ask the man if itās possible to submit our documents without an appointment since clearly there is no one waiting. (My kids are going insane so this is asked in desperation to avoid dragging them down there again). He refuses and says we need an appointment because the process takes 15 mins. So I simply asked, āwhat do you do in the 15 mins?ā He responds with we complete the application. Ummmmm we already had the application filled out along with all proper documents. I tell him this and he still insists I need an appointment. I asked why since you just explained that the 15 mins is used to fill out the application which weāve already filled out. He stutters, not sure what to says and just repeats I need an appointment.
Clearly this guy just wanted to sit around IN AN EMPTY ROOM and get paid to do nothing. It would have been easy for him to just look over our documents and put them in an envelope to send away and submit. (Weāve done this process many times so I know we had everything we needed, even for an infant). He easily could have helped us, especially since if it really takes 15 mins to complete the process, and we were there for a lot longer than that!
Needless to say, we will driving to any other office just to avoid this lazy clerk who clearly is one of those leech government workers that knows he canāt get fired. (I witnessed the way he spoke to the woman completing the process in front of us and he was bitter to her too). I honestly wouldnāt put it past him that he would sabotage our documents in some way simply because I stumped him and pointed out that there was literally no one waiting for an appointment.
Going through the whole process is a pain as it is. Itās even worse when you have someone working who hates life and is on a power high and gets off on you having anything off in the slightest.

I thought counter people were customer service agents? If I did this at my job I would be fired immediately. I know old people are some time confused but really?? The desk person (cant call customer service) should have showed her how to complete the form and offered to put the priority express tape on the package, since...

Fist of all, I arranged my package to be held at the location instead of delivering to my house. Since, I was going to be out of town. When I got there, the guy couldnt find my package and came back saying we dont have it. What! I got an email saying that you guys have my package here. The guy had no clue what he is doing and finally I told him that I wanted to talk to manager. The manager said we lost your package! So, call the company and have them call and complain or have them send you another order. I was so shocked that she would say that. Then, She goes on saying, "do you want me to repeat again bc I just told you." She didnt even apologize nor did she even explain the detail of my package like where it was lost and so forth.
