My husband is active on the transplant waiting list and is required to provide a monthly blood collection. He see's his nephrologist every 3 months and also gets lab work done. During the month's that he gets his lab work done for his nephrologist, he also gets an additional blood sample drawn for his transplant collection. The last time he went in, Stevens Point Marshfield Clinic refused to draw a blood sample for his transplant collection because it is a Friday and it was after 3 pm and Christmas also falls on the following Monday. That is is understandable. So he asks if he can come in on the following Tuesday after Christmas and the lab technician said no...because New Years falls on the following Monday. By this time he is confused because there are still 3 days plus Saturday for US postal delivery. Clearly it does not take more than four days for priority mail from Stevens Point to Madison. The lab tech said he had to come in after New years, which would make him miss his monthly sample for December.
On Tuesday, he has his appointment with his nephrologist at the Weston Marshfield Clinic. Explains to his nephrologist and his nurse what happened, they're both puzzled why the Stevens Point center refused to draw blood the following Tuesday after Christmas. The nurse there said if he brought his sample kit, they could get his blood drawn there at the Weston Center. He did have his kit. His nephrologist's nurse spoke with the lab dept and they said for him to stop by.
On his way out, he stopped by the lab department. They said they could get his blood drawn for Madison, however, they will need the medical order. They provided him with their fax and direct line numbers. As soon as he left, he called Madison, they faxed over the order. The following morning, Wednesday, he called the Weston lab to see if they received the fax. They did and asked when he could come in and get his blood drawn. He said within the hour. He got to the Weston Marshfield clinic at 9 am and had his blood drawn with no issues.
How is it that Weston is able to do his lab work for Madison and Stevens Point isn't/wouldn't? Could be uninformed or just plain laziness on the technician's part. If it was truly because of the delivery times like Stevens Point claimed, then Weston would have said the same thing. Anyways, he won't be having any of his labs done at the Stevens Point center anymore, he will be making the 30 min drive to the...
Read moreThis location is terrible when it comes to treating the people in the area. I'll split this review into 3 parts.
(Urgent Care) - Urgent care is a miserable experience. They can often get you into a room fast, but the wait times are ridiculous. I've had to wait several hours waiting for nurses to come in to do simple things like disconnect IVs or ask simple questions - This will happen when UC is nearly empty and you can hear the staff laughing and doing their own thing INSTEAD of taking care of their patients. They also don't give good medicine and/or relief and have given me incorrect diagnosis'.
(Scheduled Appts) - You can rarely get into your primary or anyone who could be considered a primary for you in the future. I'm not saying that they're bad doctors, but you shouldn't have to wait 6 months to get in for a check-up appointment. When you have issues that need to be immediately handled and you call, they'll ask you to schedule with one of their doctors, which isn't effective because you can't get in for months, and, if you're lucky and you do get in, the appointments are 20mins and useless.
(Mail) - When something needs to be mailed to you, you better pray it arrives. I have had important paperwork that has needed to be sent to me on multiple occasions. Paperwork should usually arrive in a few days, you fill it out and/or receive it, and then send it back and they get it in 3 days. They either 1, don't send it at all and claim they forgot. 2, say it magically got "lost", or 3, commonly send to wrong addresses.
I'm not sure about all locations of Marshfield Clinic, but this location is pathetic and doesn't care in the slightest. It's a shame that the people in our area have to go there because we have no other...
Read moreAwful experience with this ER department. Dr. Leonard seemed annoyed to have to care for my mother. She was brought in by ambulance with severe neck pain, they would NOT let her daughter in until they supposedly assessed her. She has Parkinson’s and difficulty in speaking. He insisted she was confused, which she was not. I could go on with his lack of concern for her pain. No pain meds were given for at least an hour of arrival. Kathleen, the attending ER nurse was condescending and outright rude, not only to me, but my older retired nurse sister and POA. Treated my mother with such lack of compassion, it was sad. They said she was stable and ready for discharge with a BP of 176/86, she was writhing in pain…they did not care. Kathleen even said, we cannot give her a muscle relaxant because of all the pain meds we gave her, but, we can’t tell you what to do at home, we won’t do that here it’s to dangerous. That was the final straw. Yes, she is 97. She is old, but her life is just as important as a young child. Shame on the nursing school who didn’t teach more compassion to this nurse. Coming from a family of so much medical background, nurses, doctors, chiropractors and anesthesiologists, they would never do this to another human being. Beware if you go here and have the unfortunate care...
