The Companion Shop — Local services in Stevens Point

Unreal. Have been giving this store business for years. I walk up to the door at 5:58(yes they I know they close at 6 but had one of those days) needing a bag of dog food as I am out. I see the employee at the cash register and the door locked. I knocked on the door and the employee shrug his shoulders. I walk back to my car stunned and call the store thinking I could explain to the store employee that I am out of dog food and just need to purchase a bag and that I was at the door at 5:58 knocking. He basically said sorry, the cash register off and locked the door at 6pm. I said I came up to the door at 5:58 and it will show I called this number after I knocked on the door at 6:01 (which is on my call log on my phone) All he wanted to do was argue that he locked the door at 6 and didn’t care that I just need a bag of dog food. I am all for giving small businesses my business but not when they provide poor customer service like I had this evening. Where has good customer service gone? I thought downtown businesses are struggling? Well the Companion Shop must not be struggling if they can turn away business for the purchase of a $70 bag of dog food 2 minutes before they close and when I call 1 minute after they close as the door was locked. I've been shopping at the Companion Shop ever since I moved back to Stevens Point in 2004. What a fantastic store! The best in premium dog and cat food at fair prices. And now a selection of raw food, too. A marvelous array of dog/cat treats and toys. Plus, Andi fosters cats for adoption, which socializes them. Both my cats are Companion Shop "graduates," and I couldn't ask for higher-quality kitties. And last but very importantly---there's Andi's superb customer service. Friendly service.

This kills me to do this but I am updating my review because we took our cat to get clipped. We went there a few times and it was okay but then it wasn't. I know the staff is doing a great job here but they weren't a great fit for my cat. She is very particular as she is a bit of a Diva but she was absolutely not comfortable there. We have taken to clipping her claws on our own.

I truly do love the store and I am so thankful it is downtown. I just would not recommend coming here for the grooming part of it. Just be sure to know that not all pets fit at...
