Upon arrival: We noticed several handicapped parking places but there were steps up to the front door ...I'm not sure if there was a ramp in back. At the door: there seem to be a line It was busy and bustling lots of seats were taken but It was not difficult to find a place to sit. There is a shelf along the ordering line with menus for food and drinks, I noticed a fireplace and it had begun to snow so I asked the server if they were planning to turn it on and she immediately did to our delight! Ordering: after getting situated by the fire, we made our selections from the menu and approached the counter to place our order. The counter staff was delightful and helpful and took our order in a very friendly way apologizing for the items that were out of stock and helping us make alternate selections. Enjoying our meal: my mushroom crepe wasn't exactly what I expected but was good nevertheless, and my husband ordered the harvest bowl which was delicious! I imagine it could be very different every time you ordered if you chose a different meat each time. I would like to go back and try different crepes on the menu as well. Unfortunately, I am not a big fan of the gluten-free barley crepe and mostly just liked the filling! I highly recommend the fig latte which was the flavor I chose because I was disappointed they were out of the Cherub crepe that has figs. Before leaving: We asked what to do with our dishes and there are busing trays hidden at the corner of the bar where we were able to leave our dishes because we wanted someone else to be able to enjoy the corner table by the fireplace.
If we lived nearby we would definitely visit again for the unique menu! We might even make the 30 minute trip for someplace special when we are in the mood for...
Read moreI was on my way from the Madison area to my home in NE Wisconsin. Not being familiar with the Stevens Point area, I nevertheless got hungry and had found my way to a Perkins Restaurant I’d seen off hi-way signage just off the exit. Anyhow, I waited awhile for someone to attend to me and after a moderate wait I was informed there would be at least a half hour wait as a basketball team was coming in. Looking around and seeing almost no one there I was ok, well to say, a little miffed.
I told the help I was going to go as I had a small dog in the car that I didn’t want to leave for too long (Stella was orientated in the car to the sun and I had was hoping for a view of the car from the seating area). Driving about to avoid getting mired in negative thought, I told myself I was going to find someplace better. After meandering a bit, trying one location then another attempt (as well as visiting the Stevens Point’s downtown and remembering this is a college town and I’m like “cool”) I found Ruby’s downtown. Did I find something better than Perkins?! Yes on all accounts!!!
I never take pics of my food, so didn’t this time either. Wished I had!! It was not only beautiful but delicious! Since it was a brunch type entree, I would have liked a juice option, but ended up having tea (drink it, but coffee isn’t always my first choice). Only reason it isn’t quite a 5 star for me. Small suggestion to an otherwise excellent experience.
Oh, and not knowing the menu going in, I asked the person waiting on me suggestions and with nicely guided questions, she brought me to a...
Read moreI am a little biased because I work here as a barista and kitchen member, but this is hands down the best place for coffee in Point. (my favorite is the maple flat white or the maple cold foam cold brew, also the iced matcha latte is incredible). Our menu is based around what we are able to find locally, seasonally, or organically, including the maple syrup & honey of course! We accommodate gluten-free and vegan diets, as well as other food allergies as long as we are notified at register/over the phone/through our online ordering service. Most of our bakery is gluten-free!! It gets a little busy here on the weekends, so it's not always the best place to try to get computer work or reading done, but many do, including myself, at least during the week. Feel free to ask the baristas questions, as we are trained to go in depth about coffee & other treats we offer with you! Even before I worked here, this was my most frequented coffee shop. We source our coffee directly from farms and have built strong relationships with our farmers so as to cooperate on making the best beans for their roast and brew. This is a great place to connect, meet new friends, and build community. So many Stevens Point community network growers come here to meet and enjoy some delicious...
