I received an email announcing a sale on her annuals and hardwoods, so I called to find out if any perennials were also on sale. I was interested in getting a few hanging annual baskets, any remaining herb plants, as well as checking out her selection of perennials. The owner was very cheery when she answered the phone, but as soon as I asked if the perennials were also on sale, she rudely replied “when do you go on sale?” and hung up on me. I called her back and asked if that was intended to be a sarcastic remark, to which she started going on and on about being tired of people asking when perennials would be put on sale, how she’s there 7 days a week, etc. and basically complaining about all of it. Well, guess what? It’s a legitimate question that a customer can and does ask, and I’m sure this rude person also takes advantage of sales in her everyday life. With the shortened season due to COVID-19, I would think that she would be grateful for the business that she does have.
