HORRIBLE place. I am not sure how in God's name this place got such high ranking. Maybe because it is the only place around that area? Not sure. I brought my cats here for visit last year and been debating whether or not I wanted to leave a review based upon my experience, so will explain further down in the review why I am coming back to it now.
I brought my cats here and was my first time to this animal hospital. They put me in an exam room and I waited. And I waited. I continued to wait. More than 1/2 hour into my wait sitting in a room without my phone, magazines staring at the walls someone popped their head into the room and said "someone will be in about 10 minutes". So I wanted longer. After nearly 1-hour sitting in the exam room I opened the back door and told them that "if someone didn't come into this room in 1 minute, I was leaving".
A Doctor finally came into the room casually stating that "he was sorry but they had an emergency". Yeah, actually I sat there for a very long time and could hear everything around me including the customers being greeted in the rooms next to me and there was no emergency.
I told the Vet that I was concerned about my cats' teeth so he proceeded to examine them and his recommendation was to simply scrape the tartar off of them and said that they really didn't need any dental cleaning. He proceeded to use a tool and pop off the tartar that they had on their teeth and sent us on our merry way.
I walked out of there feeling uneasy but went with it because they are the experts. Well, not so. I have my cats at another veterinary clinic today and told that he has nine teeth that need to be pulled and that they have never seen anything like this.
Also, Sugar Grove was supposed to fax my cats' records over ahead of this dental cleaning and failed to do so. Horrible clinic.
I cannot help but think that if Sugar Grove Animal clinic did a better job of examining his teeth and doing what should have been done which is cleaning them, he would not need NINE teeth extracted. Super upset and disappointed with this place. Would not bring a cockroach to this place, let alone my...
Read moreI recently moved to Illinois, more specifically to Chicago. I have 2 dogs, an 8 year old rescue coonhound, and a 14 year old beagle.
I found Sugar Grove Animal Hospital by searching for a more affordable option after being quoted a few thousand dollars to get both of their teeth cleaned. Although Sugar Grove is an hour drive from me- it is 100% worth it. Dr. Kovalick is wonderful, very attentive, thorough, and took the time to really look at my boys and answer all my questions. I’ve heard nothing but great things about the other doctors as well.
The vet techs are also delightful. The morning of before I left my boys for their cleaning, I was a bit worried/paranoid due to their older age and history of seizures in my 8 year old. I was reassured that thorough monitoring (EKG, heart rate, oxygen levels, and more that I cannot remember) would be done. Having an IV & catheter also made me feel even more confident for a successful procedure.
I dropped them off first thing in the morning and they were both ready to go home later that afternoon. I was called as soon as the procedure was successful and that they were waking up. I was stunned when I saw the bill- $500 TOTAL for 2 dogs with all the bells and whistles. I have literally saved thousands of dollars by electing to come out to Sugar Grove AH. The quality of care coupled with the affordability makes Sugar Grove a no brainer for anyone in the Chicago area looking not to break the bank to provide high quality care for their pet(s).
The day after I was contacted by a vet tech to see how my pups were recovering. I had a few questions that were addressed. You never feel like a burden which is amazing.
I cannot recommended Sugar Grove enough- from dental cleanings, to general check ups- your loved one will be in...
Read moreI wish we could give 1000 stars! The entire team at Sugar Grove Animal Hospital is incredible. We got our first puppy this fall and quickly realized he was sick. Dr. Kovalick and her team quickly took him in (less than 24 hours after we brought him home). He tested positive for parvo. Our dog, Max, was hospitalized there for a week. Dr. Kovalick, Dr. Jess, Dr. Lancaster, and several amazing techs all came in on their days off, weekends, and even overnight to provide care for Max. They always kept us in the loop with phone calls, videos, and pictures. After several scary days, he finally improved and was able to come home! In the following weeks, they continued to provide outstanding care in follow up appointments, calls and texts to check in, and running continuous tests to make sure he was continuing to improve. Max is now a happy and healthy 7 month old. We know he wouldn’t be here without Sugar Grove Animal Hospital and we will always recommend them! Everyone is treated like family and they truly care about every...
