Horrible reservation system....was only allowed to make timed entry reservation for 1 motorcycle (there was going to be 2 of us traveling together but on 2 separate motorcycles).

Previously when traveling on 2 motorcycles, we were allowed to make only 1 reservation and 1 pass got 2 motorcycles in but now 2 separate reservations and passes are necessary.

It doesn't make sense why we have to pay a $2 per person reservation fee when we already own 2 annual passes....extra fees collected by the government...CRAZY! These new policies are certainly not aimed at trying to incentivize people to visit our beautiful parks.

Also, due to all these reservations, fees, etc...the entry line was very long and took almost 15 minutes to get in. There were 3 booths open but each line was backed up at least 5 cars each, with another staff member directing cars as to which lane they should wait in. This was completely unnecessary as most adults driving are capable of waiting in line without direction, like we do every day at stop lights, drive thrus, parking lots, etc...

More staff attention should be directed towards people obeying speed, parking rules and not driving so aggressively thru a park than on managing park reservations and fees. Shame on you Red Rock loop!

Based on this experience I will be exploring other areas to visit other than this one as all this BS takes the fun out of what should be a fun, relaxing day at a park such...

The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. Everyone is greeted with a smile, even when there are literally hundreds of vehicles coming through. Remember to be patient and follow the directions when proceeding through the gate. If you have a dog with you, ask for a treat. The staff often hand out milk bones to the furfamily members in the vehicles. You can also ask for a map at the booth, this will be helpful when trying to figure out where each trail is. Download a topographic map or the map provided by BLM before you go. This will give you a more accurate description of each trail before you go. Do your research before visiting the conservation area and this will eliminate any confusion. Make sure to stop by the visitor center and learn about the wildlife and vegetation around Red Rock Canyon. There is an awesome gift store inside, and the proceeds go towards the upkeep of the beautiful visitor center. Bring plenty of water, snacks and dress appropriately. People do make fatal mistakes in the summer and winter season. These mistakes can easily be avoided by coming prepared. Tell a family member or friend where you are going and sign into the register at the visitor’s center. This helps with accountability in case something unforeseen happens. Most of all, take lots of pictures...

You will find very family friendly walks and adventures in the red rock area. Very much worth the drive if you are visiting Las vegas. Lost creek trail is the most kid friendly and has plenty of parking. Every stop we made had a well maintained bathroom in the parking lot. The trails are marked well and maintained along the routes. The loop is a 1 way road. You also do not enter and exit at the same location. The exit is a few miles south of the entrance. There are tire spikes at the exit making it impossible to enter with a vehicle there. Be sure to stop at the walk or hike you want to do in order of where it comes on the loop. Back tracking is not possible in some cases. You would have to exit the loop and go all the way around again if you accidentally pass the excursion you want. They have free maps of the scenic loop at the toll booth so take a few minutes and plan your stops. Bike are allowed and common riding the loop but are not free. So if you want to ride your bike around the loop be sure to bring some cash with you. There is a large gravel parking area near the exit you can park a car here and ride you bike around the loop and have a car at the exit. I...

1 1/2 minute read: On this trip to Las Vegas, we had the chance of visiting several sites, out in the dessert, and the RED ROCK CANYON FEE STATION was one of the sites we landed on. But we didn’t go to the Fee Station on purpose. We were to attend a wedding at RED ROCK CANYON and the Attendant at the FEE STATION told us, “Sorry to tell you but, there is no wedding here. Turn around, go back where you came from, for about 2 miles down, then at the next road turn left.” I followed his advice and we found the wedding at RED ROCK CANYON. Besides all that running around, we enjoyed the drive. Very scenic, but it was very hot. It may be a desert but I’ll tell you, IT IS WORTH THE EFFORT. Many things to see- wild Mustangs and Burros run wild, so posted signs tell you not to mess with them. I love that area. You will too, if you get a chance to go. Thanks.
