The worst customer service experience ever ask to speak to the manager a lady picked up the phone and basically had to ask several times for a manager then a guy picks up the phone I ask are you the manager he said no but the owner wants me to speak to you . I then asked why wouldn't the owner want to speak to me he said he doesn't want to and had me take your call . I then asked can you please ask him to speak to me the guy then says he's leaving the building. I then told my story about what happened I brought my R/C car in , it's vintage and I bought an extra battery a new charger. They did test my old battery and it was still good . The guys working there were impressed that the car was in such good shape and doesn't have a scratch on the skid plate and was telling me the wheels alone are a hundred bucks and one like this sold for $500 and it wasn't nearly in this good shape and said this car probably only been driven one time . Well long story but I bought the car home after spending $95 . I was carrying the car in my house and the wheel fell off . I only put the car in my car set it on the counter walked away after telling the guy what I wanted to buy and left . Put the car in my car went home and wheel fell off . So from my house to car then the hoppy shop and back home . I searched my car and retraced my steps . There's no way the spinner nut just fell off there made not to !!! The guy on the phone put me on hold acted like he reviewed the tape and said the guy just tapped your wheels and never touched it . I said that's funny did you watch the entire tape because he held it looked at the skid plate bragged about the car and handled it and flipped it . Then the guy hung up on me working there !!! Such a horrible experience and I was excited to get this old vintage car up for sale now I have to search on eBay to find one . What a pain and no one should give this place there business after a experience like this has been... what's so horrible is catching this business in a lie then getting hung up on after spending money there and then having to buy a bag of wheel nuts and not being offered one for free . Never again will I buy here to deal with such a horrible owner and wonder if the owner told him to hang up ? Please save money and buy all your hobby needs online and not from this...
Read moreI'm never buying anything online again. It's so refreshing to walk into a store where people are knowledgeable, helpful, and genuinely want to chat.
I recently got into building plastic model kits and after buying tools and things online, I learned of Schaefer's. Well, I was in the neighborhood so I stopped in today and was helped by three very knowledgeable people who answered some questions that had been bothering me, helped me find some fine saw blades for my clear parts and instructed me in the proper use of primer.
Just having a place with real people to ask stuff is invaluable. Sure, you can get the answer on the internet but you're gonna spend 5x as long filtering through the wrong answers before you get it. These guys know, they're doing the work. (Someone is because there are wonderfully built models everywhere)
The model selection was CRAZY!!!! I wanted to buy everything. If you're a monster geek, THIS IS THE SPOT! Any tools you might need? They got it. If you don't know what you need? Ask someone!
They have so much more too, my wife was looking at cross stitch patterns, and cake making supplies. We were both getting excited about the section of science kits and rocket supplies. And there were some guys who looked like they were having a blast with some really fancy RC cars.
Also, I cannot tell you how refreshing it is to be in a place where joy is infectious. Remember toy stores? That feeling where everyone walking in the door was excited about something? That's what going here was like.
I fully intend to visit regularly for all my hobby needs. This place is wonderful. Their reputation is very...
Read moreWas getting back into the rc car hobby and was looking to get some updated parts. In the past I always purchased from a competitor. I was told by a friend good things about Schaefer hobby.
1st attempt calling in was a week ago on Tuesday about 2 o'clock in afternoon. Rang a few times and someone put me on hold. I waited about 12 minutes on hold until I hung up.
2nd attempt was that next Thursday. Same situation but I hung up after 10 mins.
3rd and last attempt was today. I waited 8 minutes. Hung up then called immediately back. I was still in good spirits at this point and asked the woman that answers the phones there if the hold times were normal. Again I have no experience shopping there. I've never been there or spoken with anyone at this point. The woman on the phone assured me that someone would eventually answer as they were probably busy with other customers.
I wait on hold this time for 6 or 7 minutes before a gentleman answered the phone clearly agitated that I was bothering him with a phone call. After asking one simlle question I was convinced that I would not be shopping there at all.
After investing over a half hour on hold and multiple calls for a few very simple questions, only to get a nasty attitude from them, I will continue to shop with...
