Sadly, my mom and I were disappointed in the fall tent sale this year. In comparison to 2015, the staff seemed to treat us as more of a nuisance than welcome visitors. At one point, I picked something up and put it down, only to have the staff member in the vicinity come over immediately and straighten the same item! This staff member excused themselves, stating it was their job to touch up the displays. While that might be the case, it made feel like I was in a home with plastic covered furniture. At no point were we asked if we had found everything correctly, which was also a stark difference from 2015. We got a strong feeling that everyone just wanted to lock up and home.
In general, the atmosphere seemed to have taken a hit as well. My mom remembered that had been a popcorn machine outside in 2015, and it just seemed like the store was so packed to the gills, we couldn't even move without touching something. Instead of nostalgia, it was merchandise merchandise merchandise. It was the nostalgia that originally brought us back, and this time, we didn't feel it.
All and all, while my mom and I used to look forward to this event along with the holiday open house, but after today, we don't know if we will be...
Read moreGretchen is a reason to come back to the Dixboro General Store. Not that the wonderful product selection and generally lovely energy of the store wasn’t enough but I really appreciated her conversation, assistance and demeanor. I’ve been into the Dixboro General store a few times in the last month getting gifts for Christmas and have had a wonderful experience each time. I have verbally recommended this place to friends and I’ve also shared amongst guests I’ve taken care of while I was waiting/serving down the road at the Dixboro Project(be it clear; there’s no connection of the two establishments, besides the name of the area they’re in).
They change their inventory to my understanding 4 times a year to provide a fun one stop shop to get all of the things you might need to prepare for a new season. Lots of lovely home good items and various items to decorate your space. Love to visit, even though I no longer am working at the restaurant down the road, Rocky and I will still be back to visit the Dixboro General Store...
Read moreMy daughter and I stop into what we thought was a cute little hidden gem gift store, to be completely ignored by multiple works, we were not even greeted when we came in, the cashier went out of her way to ignore us. One worker even pushed past us looking down at the ground. I felt very uncomfortable I’m not sure if it was my appearance or skin color. But the next person through the door was greeted with open arms by the workers, she was a paper cutter older white women so I’m going to guess that’s why service was offered. This experience has left me feeling bad in general and very unwanted in the store. so if you do not want to experience racism I’d shop somewhere else. Cute place though ……. Vibe is negative 15 points, energy is very negative. I’d give it zero stars but then I...
