Lipham Department Store — Local services in Tallapoosa

This family owned store has been a dependable go to supplier since the late 1800s. I have been a happy customer since the 1950s (when the store for everything had only been open for about 70 years). Olin Lipham and Betty Lipham were fantastic people who always kept the customer's best interests first. If either of them thought that you were making an unwise purchase, they would express their concerns to determine if they were supplying the proper product. You never had to be concerned that your best interests weren't being met. Now the torch has passed on to Hannah who has retained that fantastic family value that I've admired so much for almost 70 years. There are only two other stores that I can remotely compare to Lipham's. They would be M A Pace General Merchandise in Saluda North Carolina and Kneisel & Anderson in Georgetown Colorado. They have all three been in the same families since the late 1800s. They are decent honest people. They each have your best interests at heart. I just realized that when I started school 65 years ago in 1959, I was wearing new shoes, shirt and jeans acquired from Lipham's.
