Sound Express — Local services in Tampa

Not too long ago I bought a new car. A beautiful car, turbo all the works. Only thing lacking as many of us know can be factory audio systems. Even though the system that came with this vehicle was not horrible the sound was just not well rounded. I like to feel a little bit of the music. I like to feel the kick drum and the bass hit my back. I looked at many different options for audio installation of a sub woofer or two. Including some places that I have gone since I was a teenager that are still in business. Places with great reputation. Many of these places however either were a little too pricey for my taste for what I was looking for or just had products I was not quite confident in. I was not looking for some thing that would piss everybody in my ZIP Code off just something to enhance the sound and bring the quality up to the quality of the rest of the vehicle.

So I did a lot of shopping around did a lot of searching and found Sound Express. Had not heard a lot about them but read some reviews but still was a little bit of a skeptic. The shop is definitely one of those cases where you should never judge a book by the cover. Does not have a fancy show room does not have a bunch of boisterous sales staff trying to sell you every gadget for every nook and cranny of your vehicle. Instead I walk in and meet a man very unassuming and unpretentious. He kindly offered assistance. His demeanor alone instantly made me comfortable. The man or gentleman is named Tim. Told him my desires and needs and he walked me through about three options trying to feel me out as to what my needs for my vehicle were. Within a matter of 10 minutes or so we had a package put together and we were ready to move on to the next steps. Not only this but even had me immediately pulled into a bay and two great 10" subs with an adequate amp installed in a ported box. I was in to just hesitantly inquire and was out a satisfied customer with the system above and beyond what I expected in under 3 hours. Not to mention affordable. Never tried to pressure me to buy bigger or more. I admire that above all. I told Tim that I would be a regular customer and plan on being just that. Future needs I will go to sound express. This place of business is very unprofessional and does not have good customer service at all. The owner Tim is very rude to the customers I had brought my car yesterday to get audio put in and they broke my door panels and I was trying to let them know how to take off my door panels since it’s a Mercedes and they proceeded to tell me to sit down or you can’t be over here very rudely. I asked the owner Tim how can we resolve this issue and he told me to come back in the morning and see what we can do. I came back this morning and he called the cops and basically lied and told them that he said we can have our upholstery people look at it and fix the issue mind you the owner never said anything like that at all. He denied my business and stated he does not want me as a customer after I paid to get this installed and they broke my door panels to were I can’t lock my vehicle now and my door panels have been fine before I even went to sound express. He denied giving me a full refund or properly fixing the door panels that they broke upon install of the audio, they will also blame it on the car being old is to why the door panels broke that is not the issue the issue is that they did not know how to properly remove the door panels and will not try to resolve the issue to have a great customer service...

Bad news when it comes to audio install. Tim installed all brand new 2 10’ skar mid speakers and 2 skar tweeters that previously purchased an told me I would need a amp for both 😳😳😳 I never heard nobody say you need a personal amp for just tweeters but I said ok I knew he was trying some slick schemes once he said it but I told myself it would come in handy if I ever wanted to add more speakers so he had his employee do all the wiring an he did the install paid a crazy price for simple!!! install. One week later all speakers blow so I brought it back to Tim he didn’t want to talk face to face like a respectable businessman do.
