Whitt's Place — Local services in Tazewell

went in to purchase a loaf of adorno's sourdough (google reviewed if you search adorno's sourdough tazewell). mr whitt has a good sense of humor and his assistant (son?), the same. when i went to pay for my $10 loaf of adorno's, i found i'd left my card at the quicky mart on my way. i said i'd be back with cash as i was going to middlesboro to pick up at walmart. whitt would have none of it. he slid the loaf to me and said i could come back tomorrow, he closes at five and no way i'll be back before then.

i had my mom in the passenger seat so i went out and borrowed her card. when i returned, he remarked how i was far more anxious than he about a ten dollar purchase and tomorrow was all good. then i said, "nobody knows what'll happen tomorrow, i'll pay now."

the whole vibe is one of neighbors trusting neighbors with good humor. the customers are the same, making generous remarks about my funky old truck.

"you lived in san francisco?" an old lady remarked after telling me how great the adorno's is and i replied, "yes. i'm one of THEM!" i smirked. she smiled back genuinely and i wished her a wonderful weekend.

We’ve wanted to try Whitt’s place for a while now so today we finally did! AWESOME!!! Bought a couple bone in rib-eye’s and slapped em on the flat top this evening.
