Reviewing a return from Mexico to the USA by vehicle.
Avoid weekend crossings - I waited in 5-hours from 3:30PM- 8:30PM on a Sunday end of July. I was told by CPD agent that crossing on a weekday typically takes less than one hour and sometime only 15-minutes so supposedly a significantly time saving.
Disappointed in the predictive accuracy of the Customs and Border Protection website's time estimate for the crossing. I checked on the morning of my trip and was presented an estimate of 1 to 1.5-hour wait. If people had better estimates of how long their crossing will take, they can plan their trip accordingly.
The border is scheduled to close at 10:00PM on Sundays so I am sure many people behind me who had been waiting for hours that day were not able to cross.
Also, really hard to fathom that no public restroom breakarea was planned for people and their families with potentially multi-hour wait times.
This experience definitely has me thinking twice before going back on a weekend...
Read moreRoe Led is correct. Tecate border entry to USA has become a great challenge and chaotic every day. After many, many years our hours of operation had been 5 am to 11 pm to which have changed to 6 am to 2 pm. Losing an hour in the pm in order to keep the 5 am, we would all agree would be the best. We as American Citizens/Residents may not have privileged family members so this is why we live in Mexico. Mother's, father's and children battle it out constantly to make it on time to our destination's. If at least twice a week an accident is bound to happen do the the falling asleep behind the wheel(lack of sleep trying to get a place in line), racing to beat the traffic, weather and/or construction on the road. If you can please take our voices in consideration that would be a great start to a better communication with the...
Read moreWebsite said 30 mins, ended up being 2 hours. Gas is expensive, so instead of taking my dads truck on the trip, I offered to take my jalopy to save gas. We were sent to secondary inspection, understandably. I bought my car with a speaker box in the trunk that I don’t know how to remove. It wasn’t even about the inspection (that’s their job.) What got me upset was that I was using their restroom when they said we were good to go. I wasn’t sure which way to, so my dad went to ask one of the Border Patrol agents. He said that she had attitude toward him from the start. Pro-tip: If you’re going to be bothered by someone asking a simple question,...
