Chimney Rock — Local services in Thurmont

Decided to go hiking with a few friends on 11/22/24. To my luck this day we planned to hike it called for snow but my friends wanted to still go so I went anyways! As if hiking almost all uphill over rocks wasn't hard enough doing it with snow on the ground covering a lot of the rocks was a nice challenge! Very slippery but was worth it when we made it to the top! The trail was nice from what we could see. Luckily I went with a friend that had hiked this trail before so it wasn't as confusing as it might have been if you are doing it for your first time. I highly recommend good hiking shoes/boots if you are going to hike trails like this. I wore my new waterproof Merrell gore-tex lined hiking shoes and my feet were nice and dry. I do wish I wore some high top hiking shoes or boots or shoes so I wouldn't have a great chance of rolling my ankle which almost happened a few times due to...

Well, I just got home from this hike. Uhhh I wouldn’t say I would be as miserable is I chose a better day to go hiking. Very steep and rocky so be prepared!!! The trail has some obstacles too! Fantastic hike. Amazing climax at the highest point, where you have to go across a 4ft jump and then climb up 10feet to the farthest point. Most don't try this.
