I went to this facility with high expectations. These expectations were based on good reviews and nice pictures of a good looking facility.
I was really excited to go there, since, again, their advertisements did a good job of painting a nice picture. I entered the building, it was clean, the food was enjoyed by my friends, and everyone was friendly enough.
Moving on, we sat excitedly, there were 5 of us.
(About me, Iām a biologist and Iām a farmer. I have a small farm, poultry, waterfowl, goats and horses. I worked across the country on cattle farms, and I was a vet tech for a long time. Iāve also been a professional animal keeper)
My friend ended up bidding on a buckling, he won. So. We were taking home a goat and were super thrilled about it.
The ducks and chickens eventually came out. When I say the handling of them was rough, the handling was ROUGH. I heard a wing snap. Not being dramatic. I was shocked, stunned and in total disbelief at the completely abhorrent handling these animals had to endure.
Eventually I started bidding on chickens. I ended up with 7.
So. One goat. 7 hens, and my friend ended up with 3 hens.
We go to pay. My bill came to over $110.00
The goat was over $100.00
The other chickens I think were around $80.00
(Keep in mind for vetted, vaccinated chickens and goats from reputable places with papers, medical records and up to date shots. We would be paying LESS for higher quality chickens, and around the same or $150 more for quality kids)
We pile all of our animals into the truck. Iām glad I brought so many crates.
I get the chickens home. I of course have them quarantined in a different place from where my established flock is. I notice they are all in awful shape. One of them is bleeding from her vent. Her vent was torn to shreds. She had a combination of old dried blood. Clotted blood and fresh blood. So, there was that. Immediately put her in a crate in the laundry room. Soaked, medicated etc.
I examined the others. The barred rocks were living with a very bad rooster, or maybe it was just the MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF LICE that caused their feathers to be in such bad condition and for them to be completely without feathers on their tails and around their vents.
They were all also really thin.
Well, I woke up the next morning to find one of the other reds dead. So, one red was being treated for vent injuries, the other red is dead, and the third red was stable.
I did have a necropsy performed on the red, findings: emaciated and severe peritonitis. When I say severe, and emaciated, I mean, on the phone the vet was absolutely shocked at how skinny the hen was, and the peritonitis had been on going.
I also had the entire flock tested by a vet. They are all positive for mycoplasma.
How WONDERFUL!!!! so. On top of the $100 for these poor, malnourished, sick hens, I ended up spending an ungodly amount of money on vet care and I need to keep managing a quarantined flock.
Now. Moving on to the goat. He was absolutely ADORABLE. Heās dead now. He was brought home and loved deeply by my friend. He was immediately put on dewormer, his appetite was never really there. Wasnāt sure what they did with bottle feeding or natural feeding, but we tried bottles and feed. He was taken to the vet. He then started coughing up blood...
Well, he died on the operating table. He was completely eaten from the inside out BY WORMS.
Deworming animals is NOT EXPENSIVE OR HARD AND IT IS BASIC PROPER ANIMAL HEALTHCARE, as ARE VET VISITS!!!!!!
So, he is dead, my friend is still broken, and the people on the papers never called him back, and Eyelerās didnāt care.
The three chickens my friend took were also emaciated, sick, and positive for mycoplasma.
Makes me wonder what the USDA has to say about this nightmare and why the heck these people do business with animal abusing, animal neglecting āfarmersā they need to require inspections and health...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeware of this auction. It's filled with sedated horses with behavior problems in my opinion. I was promised through many conversations if I bought a horse from the acting manager Zac that there was anything wrong with it he would take the horse back and return the money. Bought his horse on Saturday and on Sunday it nearly killed me. A horse advertised as safe and sound turned out to be spooky, aggressive, kicks violently, won't allow its legs to be handled and loses its mind if you try to ride him. Zac was told about the issues and immediately said I could run it back through the sell and see if I can get my money back. He has since distanced himself and is forcing me to take legal action. He's a liar and hes not a man. He's a coward...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePurchased a REGISTERED AQHA mare in February. It's now May. I have been dealing with the auction house and several "owners" of the mare to get the AQHA transfer papers. It literally takes 3 minutes to print one out and send it to me. Every week... "sending today"... '"oh, wrong address?" CMON! Auction claims they "didn't know" they needed transfer papers included. As of today, I'm consulting with attorney now. I think I've been way more patient than the...
