Visited there on Friday October 25 2024 after reading the good reviews on our way to the Ft Ritchie haunted house. Upon walking in to order my daughter asked for the restroom she was met with a very snarky rude reply from the girl behind the deli counter stating " No! There are no public restrooms. I ordered a ham and turkey" hoagie " and I use that term lightly and my daughter ordered a roast beef panini After a 25 min wait this is where the disappointment begins. My hoagie for 9 dollars was a joke it was on a Maiers or Martins small soft sub roll , orange cheap american cheese, no turkey and I couldn't even taste the condiments that I ordered. Reminded me of a school lunch sandwich. My daughters sandwich was a totally different one then what she ordered so another 15 min wait to make a new one. Went to the candy / ice cream shop side and ordered a small chocolate malt milkshake a YooHoo would been better thin and no malt taste at all that they charge extra for. We bought some baked goods since they looked good but that's were it stopped. It was my birthday so I got my favorite a vanilla cupcake with buttercream icing. It reminded me of a cheap wedding cake, dry cake and gritty icing, also the sugar cookies were flavor less. My 40 plus years in Food Bev industry plus my daughters 10 yrs experience we know a thing or two. I really wanted to like this place but the food, service and prices are...

Today, my family went to the store and had ordered multiple items from the menu for dinner. We do not live in the area, but like to stop there for our travels to Pennsylvania. We had been waiting for approximately 15 minutes for the food to be made.

My two young children said they had to use the restroom urgently. Knowing that young toddlers cannot wait at times, My wife had asked if they could use the stores restroom. The store had signs saying "no public restrooms". we understand they don't want anyone to use them from the public. But when you are waiting for food that you paid for, it seems like a common courtesy to let someone use the restroom in an urgent matter for a young toddler who is learning to hold their bladder.

Employees told my wife that we had to drive down the road to the Sheetz to use their restroom instead (Which we did after we got our food). It takes awhile to pack toddlers in the car and get them out each time you stop.

My wife wanted to purchased additional baked goods after we were done eating (like usual), as we have enjoyed purchasing items in the past, but since we had to rush to the Sheetz, we did not come back.

We were disappointed with how the situation was handled and feel like we should take our business...

Italian Panini special this week was excellent! We visited Friday evening- walked in at 6:30pm and ordered our two sandwiches right away. Two other people were waiting so it was busy, but not absolutely slammed. Two of the employees were incredibly rude- snapping at customers wanting to check out, talking about how 7pm can’t come fast enough, and they even snapped rudely at a customer who asked if she needed to use one piece of paper per sandwich or could she just write them both on one sheet (valid question for a new customer). My two sandwiches were complete at 6:52, I then asked the girl working as cashier if I could buy a ground meat bundle as well and she was very nice, helpful, and was pleasant. She was clearly new as we stop in frequently and I haven’t seen her before. I thanked her and loudly thanked the other two employees for making our sandwiches and they just looked at me, did not say anything back. I would encourage the owner to have a serious discussion about employee morale because while I sincerely enjoy your sandwiches and all of the other homemade goods you offer- I cannot stand rude customer service. A smile and a thank you or a you’re welcome...

I've been to the Farmhouse Exchange a couple of times now and I was extremely impressed with the amount of baked goods and other products that they have packed into such a small place, there is so much to look at. This local market just outside of Thurmont along route 15 also has a full deli and their sandwiches are some of the best in the area for sure. They sell locally raised and sourced products like meats and eggs and even have products from South Mountain Creamery. I took my wife and kids and they really enjoyed looking at all of the different items that the store has to offer so if your ever in the area in my opinion its worth it to stop and check them out and as an added bonus they are also right next door to Gateway Candyland as well. Last but not least I thought I would mention that the only reason they got 4 and not 5 stars is that they are kind of expensive partly due to the kinds of products that they do sell being as they say homemade and locally sourced so plan on spending a little extra if you do buy their products.

NO PUBLIC RESTROOMS...I find this extremely odd and inconvenient, would be great to be able to wash hands before eating and/or use a restroom - So, if you're looking to pullover for a quick pit stop...you'll hafta wait !! Sandwiches are made at time of order and are always very good ! Fresh baked pastries are delicious. Ice cream is served on site and is just as good as their bakery n made to order sandwiches. Would liked to have given The Farmhouse Exchange a 5, but with lack of restroom đŸš» , I can only rate as a 2.5 to 3. Hopefully a restroom is in the foreseeable future...if not a Porta Potty and a handwashing station

Look no further for your new favorite sandwich and fresh baked goods stop. So much greatness packed into this little store. Farmhouse carry’s an abundance of options for your sandwich/panini/wrap. We have gone here multiple times for lunch. Make sure to grab some of their homemade sides, baked goods, desserts, or local sauces!
