This is a little far from the center of the DMV, around 1.5 Hrs from DC however it's a good spot and area to visit. The candy land store it's very unassuming when you look at it from the outside because once you get in you will see the wide variety of candies they have but candy and Hershey's chocolate is not all they have to offer, they also have several types of bread, jams and other spreads, sandwiches but the main thing to try at this place, in my humble opinion, is the shakes. I had the mango shake with chamoy and it was an unusual, unexpected but eye opening gastronomic experience. The contrast between the sweetness of the shakes makes perfect sense with the saltiness and kind of a bit spicy chamoy but if you want something less adventurous, they have two more shakes wit a more familiar taste that you can try and once you finish the shake you will be left with a beautifu storel themed glass cup that you can take home and display it as a pig out trophy. I highly recommend you to visit this place you will not regret it and the staff will make sure you have an...
Read moreI have been going to Candyland and the food place next to it for years. I worked in Frederick and would stop every Saturday. I went there today and to say I was price gouged is an understatement. How do two chocolate covered Nutter Butters cost four dollars? I picked up a tube of candy and they sell it in dept stores for 2 dollars. When I get to the register I was told it was five dollars. The last and final straw was a cherry pie that was 30 dollars and it was a small pie I understand there is inflation but to charge these prices is rediculous.the pie would be 5 dols to make. Times are very tough for a lot of people but to print your prices so small you need a magnifying glass is done for a reason. The hopes that people will pay and not realize what they paid and are too embarrassed to ask to put it back. As much as I love this place you have out priced...
Read moreWe go here a lot for ice cream. Sundaes are always good but we noticed more and more lately that serving sizes depends largely on who might be working behind the ice cream counter. We have watched two different people behind the counter making Sundaes at the same time giving drastically different size portions. We went there last night and received much smaller portions than we’ve ever received. I would hate for this to be the kind of place where you poke your head in the door to see who’s working behind the counter to decide whether you want to stay or not. It wouldn’t take too many trips like last night to have us looking elsewhere when we get the ice cream urge. Usually portions are fairly generous. Quality and friendliness is always great but serving size needs to be...
