Tom Strain & Sons and Daughter Too LLC — Local services in Toledo

I finally went to the big city to see Tom Strain and son and Daughter. And I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to find the front store. It is late in the season but they had a nice selection of flowers and tomato plants for 1.99 which is a great price. But I was on the look out for ornamental Cabbage. I must say I looked high and low and this is the only place within 50 miles that carries ornamental cabbage. The greenhouse and main store were clean and the staff friendly. I want to love this greenhouse. Unfortunately, all the women who work there are NASTY. I have never been to a small local place of business where each and every employee looks and acts like they are completely and utterly miserable and just plain outright nasty. I am not talking about going above and beyond in good customer service - I am just talking about being somewhat friendly and helpful in general. If you want customer service on any level at all DO NOT go to this greenhouse because you will be met with unfriendly, nasty employees who act like they hate their job and all...

I came on opening day - AMAZING. I was in Heaven as a hobbyist gardener. No matter what I do I can’t get my peppers to grow. Finding peppers 4 inches tall at $2.39 for a pack of 4! That was crazy awesome.

The prices are by size of pot, not the plant. So 6 1/2 inch tomatoes is for the tomatoes in the 6 inch pots. Which, MASSIVE, by the way.

Toledo’s best kept secret right here for all gardeners.

Great selection of perennials and annuals. The only plant I didn’t find that I wanted was honeysuckle.
