On my way through town, I had a craving for authentic Indian cuisine and decided to give this restaurant a try. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with genuine warmth by Jesse and Seema, who were not only friendly but incredibly attentive to every detail of my dining experience. Their hospitality made me feel like more than just a customer—it felt like I was being welcomed into their home. The food was nothing short of outstanding. Each dish was bursting with bold, vibrant flavors that reflected true Indian tradition. The spices were perfectly balanced, and everything tasted fresh and homemade. The portions were generous, leaving me full and satisfied without feeling overwhelmed. I especially appreciated how beautifully everything was plated—clearly made with care and pride. The atmosphere was also fantastic: clean, cozy, and filled with the rich aroma of spices that made the whole experience feel immersive. It was the kind of place where you can relax and truly enjoy a good meal, whether you’re dining solo, with family, or with friends. If you’re just passing through town or lucky enough to live nearby, do yourself a favor and stop in. This isn’t just a meal—it’s an experience. Jesse and Seema have created something special here, and I’ll definitely be returning the next time I’m in the area.

I recently DoorDashed from Star of India in Toledo, and even though I wasn’t dining in, the experience was just as amazing! I ordered Butter Chicken (Indian hot) along with Butter Naan and Garlic Naan, and everything arrived fresh, hot, and packed with care. The Butter Chicken was absolutely delicious—rich, creamy, and packed with bold flavors. I asked for Indian hot, and they delivered on the spice level perfectly! It had just the right amount of heat without overpowering the dish. The chicken was tender, and the sauce was so good I could’ve eaten it by the spoonful. The naan was soft, warm, and perfect for scooping up the butter chicken. The Butter Naan was rich and fluffy, while the Garlic Naan had an amazing garlicky aroma and just the right amount of crispiness on the edges. The best surprise? They even included a piece of chocolate cake with an adorable shark on top! It was such a fun and unexpected touch, and the cake itself was moist and decadent—a perfect way to end the meal. Even though it was a delivery order, the quality was just as good as dining in. If you’re craving authentic Indian food in Toledo, Star of India is a must-try, whether you’re eating in or ordering out!

Fantastic little find in Toledo when I had a hankering for Indian buffet and my usual place (Tandoor, down the street) was inexplicably closed on a Tuesday. (I found out from the people at Star of India that there had been an accident at Tandoor and the owner's wife had been badly burned. Prayers for her and please visit Tandoor when they are open as it is an excellent place, too.) Star of India has an excellent buffet with all the great Indian faves like aloo, paratha bread, basmati rice, spiced lentils, etc. They have vegetarian and vegan options as well as chicken dishes. I also ordered a delicious mango lassi with my meal. I only ate vegetarian, but still managed to stuff myself almost to the point if pain. Hurts so good! I didn't order off the menu, which I'm sure is delicious, because I love the variety (and endlessness!) of the buffet. What's also really cool is the buffet runs until 4pm so there isn't a short window to have to fit into. The place is clean, but not fancy. Plenty of easy parking. Come as you are. The real star is the food and the authentic Indian vibe.

Coming from England where Indian food is as common as Mexican food in the United States I can say this is the best Indian food I have had in either places.

Two of us had lunch and could not have asked for tastier or more plentiful food.

We started with Veggie Samosas which were flavorful, crispy piping hot and perfectly spiced. A single order consisted of two good sized Samosas which was the perfect start to our meal.

I had the Lamb Vindaloo for my entre. It comes with rice and a Naan Bred, both of which are extra in many restaurants. The Vindaloo while traditionally a hot spicy dish can be ordered in any spice level and I chose the medium which was pleasantly spicy while not having you grab for water. The dish had a rich flavorful gravy while the lamb was tender, fat free and did not have an overly strong flavor. 10/10 for flavor, presentation and quantity.

My companion had the Lamb Korma, tender pieces of lamb in a creamy gravy made with yogurt, cream, and a fragrant blend of spices such as cardamom, cinnamon, and coriander. Again the portion size was generous and the flavors unique and well balanced. My companion said it was one of the best meals she had in many years another 10/10

Between the included rice and Naan breads and the generous servings we had sufficient for a second full meal at home, and the dishes reheated well and tasted just as good.

We paid approximately $35 before tips and taxes which for a total of 4 meals (with leftovers) I thought was an excellent price for the quality of the food.

The Star serves traditional Northern Indian food which is not significantly Americanized. The owner/chef and server - they do everything as a family, came out and personally talked to us about the restaurant, and the dishes making our choices informed and gave us the distinct impression they cared abuot the quality of the food and providing an experience representative of what Indian food should taste like.

This is our new favorite Indian restaurant and we will be going back...

Are you trying to expand your pallet? Have you never had Indian food before? Then this is the place for you hands down! Not only have I never had any Indian food before but my partner hasn’t ever gone out of his comfort zone like this. He’s the typical chicken tenders, burger, steak and fries type. We challenged ourselves tonight. Let me just say it was absolutely worth it. Despite the moments we almost backed out on the way and chose our normal go to’s. We had the meat samosas for an appetizer. WOW the green spicy sauce and brown sweet and tangy sauce that comes with it was impressively tasty! Both complimented the lamb well! Then we ordered the shrimp makhni & chicken biryani. When I tell you I’ve never had my mouth water with such delight🤩🤤 Both were amazing! They came with a side of rice and tortilla like bread. Also a yogurt soup to help with cooling depending on the spice level you request for your food! Yes! You read that right if you like spicy things you’ll love this place as they will turn up the heat for you! If not that’s okay too very customizable. Over all the staff was pleasant and refreshing. The owners such good energy people. I absolutely love this place and will be back as well!...
