Also tried to call and contact them with my concerns. At first Visa stated that they weren’t doing any censorship. But apparently that was all a lie as of recent they just announced they want to be a leading example of gaming. So they now are owning up to censorship. Thing is we have laws in place and systems already, the ESRB, Steam itself has an age system that was extremely tedious to turn off, and yet they bully not just gamers but anyone who doesn’t agree with their “brand”. This shouldn’t be about brands. This isn’t even about the kids safety online. Anyone who’s been on steam for 30 minutes can see there are already so many checks and balances to keep people from content that they don’t want to see. Anyone spending over an hour going through the entire system testing it can see Steam does an amazing job at filtering and removing harmful stuff. Yes sometimes some things filter through that is questionable but every online platform struggles with this and as AI tech advances so does this checks and balances. But no, I can’t tell anyone about this because all they say is “write an email” and then they ignore calls. No one wants to hear it. Well guess what? This is hurting Mastercards brand way more than anything. No one likes censorship. Banks shouldn’t be allowed to bully platforms if it’s legal. And every game on Steam was legal. Now even horror games and other non nsfw game is being affected. And not just video games, this has extended to a many other hobbies and brands too. But for many of us the video games is the final straw. Mastercard is saying “we only support what we think is aligned with our agenda” with this move. Which is why a many of us are leaving Mastercard unless they start treating the majority who is outraged by this, being ignored and actually changes their stances. This is a dangerous stance they are doing, censorship, the number one enemy of our first amendment right in the United States of America. As long as they keep backdooring the issue with bullying while lying to our faces and ignoring our concerns, this company, PayPal and Discover will sadly feel the sting of thousands to millions of people paying off their debts and then looking for an alternative. For sure I am. I’ll change this review if something changes and they do the right thing. For now, their stance on this, is disgusting. Down...
Read moreCalled Master card today to see about waving a late fee. 1st off, the girl began arguing with me. I will be nice & not mention names. She claimed I had called in my payment when I actually had mailed in a check thru the U.S. mail. Yes, it was a bit late. I gave up on the argumentative customer service rep quickly & asked for the manager, telling the customer service rep I was not going to argue. I did get transferred to a general manager. However, I was told that I would NEVER be allowed another waive, EVER. Even if it was a year later. Pretty Harsh Jail Time for being a bit late & b/c it was 2 times in 11 months (despite my good history). Master card allows 1 late fee to be waived every 12 months. All customers history's need to be carefully looked at before making such judgements. I will be cutting up my card but Master card wont care b/c I always pay it off. No money in that for them. I admit I was late back in Jan. due to a family death. But I did pay my bill. So once again, we are having a terrible family health issue & this is Nov. of same yr. & it has me pretty scrambled. But I did not feel up to airing the dirty laundry of our life story, so I did not. BUT to be told that Master card will NEVER ALLOW me another WAIVE is way to harsh. Good Bye Master Card. You might want to take a look at those rules. Especially when you have an excellent customer with a long history of paying...
Read moreThey are refusing calls
For reasons I’ll explain, I simply needed to speak with a human operator about something an automated system can’t well inform me about and maybe raise a concern to their company.
What is this concern? Censorship
In their policy TOS it states that they care about branding, and will deny my choice on what I want to purchase because of this policy. Yet there is no operator, no one is picking up the phone, and I really don’t appreciate being ignored as a customer. Hence this negative review, I really wouldn’t have a...
