We came from Pennsylvania with our 7 year old grandson on Saturday August 17,2024 evening because he starts school Wednesday so one last hoorah to end his summer. Rides are nothing like I remembered, you get less time and pay more! We really enjoyed the museum's which were free thankfully, and the animals also free to walk through and see or pet but food and drinks were to expensive in our opinions, $13.00 for a bottle of soda thankfully I had my own bottle of water with me, food cost almost $50.00 for 2 orders fries,a cheese burger and a sausage sandwich. However our grandson did have fun definitely wanted to stay longer unfortunately we ran out of money after eating. With prices so high we just can't afford this kind of activity for more than a couple hours. Grandstand prices were $15.00 per person so not any better than the food and drinks . Neither my husband or myself have been to this fair in over 20 years and after that night probably won't be going again anytime soon just can't afford it anymore....
Read moreI am a carnival junkie and the Bath fair rarely disappoints. Carnivals are seriously lacking anymore. I am sure Covid probably has something to do with that (i.e. a lot of the entertainment industry has suffered). The Chemung county fair was a complete failure this year unfortunately. It was good to see Coleman bros on the midway, they are one of the better operators, attractive rides, games and concessions. Imo lose the racing pigs, they were fun 10 years ago, but it's boring now. Vendors and animal exhibits we're light again imo only. Even the vendors agree that a change is needed, try something new. Mix it up every few years to keep people coming back and excited for what they may get to see and do rather than expect the same thing every...
Read moreI haven't lived in the area in over 40 years, so the Steuben County Fair is a fond childhood memory. It's nice going back to the fair when it coincides with our vacation plans.
It's a very simple fair, but it brings a lot of joy to a lot of people. It's a small slice of Americana.
For me it's a nice afternoon spent out of my regular element, it's not a memory lane type of thing for me, but it's time well spent. We enjoy seeing the young people with their 4H animals, my wife connects with the animals on a pet level, I see them as food chain animals, so it creates an interesting dynamic between us.
We would recommend enjoying an afternoon or evening at this fair. IMHO the local food vendors are a better...
