I was initially referred to East End Gastro by the ER appointment coordinator at Northwell. I was surprised that they referred me to a non-Northwell provider, but I think now that they may have done so because they knew of my extreme apprehension.
I am a 'special needs' patient in that I have c-PTSD, currently have excess cortisol flooding my system, and am in an emotionally fragile state. I knew I would have difficulty regulating my emotions, so I wrote a note with pertinent information, and handed it in when I arrived for my colonoscopy. It seemed as if every human in the building knew of my distress, because I saw nothing but compassion in the faces of everyone I had occasion to meet. Dr. Coronel even answered my question about this being what he wanted to do when he grew up seriously. 🤡 The doctor who administered my sedation was wonderful too. He introduced himself to me, but I asked so many questions his name was lost in the flurry. He listened carefully, and answered all my questions. The last thing I remember was him telling me that I was walking into a forest... 😵💫 Then Peggy was waking me up with water and cookies - what could be better?
In all seriousness, the entire staff at this office went above and beyond to make me feel safe. The staff is trauma-informed, and I highly recommend them for first-time patients, or for patients with a...
Read moreDr Coronal performed a colonoscopy on me in October of 2018. Evidently my prep was not clear but he still did the procedure . When I was in recovery I noted a snide remark from him almost blaming me for the bad prep. Mind you I have had many colonoscopies before this with absolutely no problem. I went home not feeling well. Still not right a few days later I called the office only to be told to take a laxative because I was probably constipated. The procedure was done on a Tuesday and the following Monday I had an appointment with my primary doctor for clearance for a hernia operation . Thank God I went as I still was not Feeling well. I was very nauseous and weak. My doctor noted my blood pressure was 80/50 and immediately sent me to the ER. Once there I passed. Out only to find out that my colon had been perforated and I was bleeding internally. After a week in ICU PLUS 3 blood transfusions I was let out to go home. My stomach was full of blood and it took months to heal. I was left with thousands of dollars of medical bills and loss of wages. I would not recommend this doctor to my...
Read moreIf I could give them 10 stars I would! Literally everyone from the front desk to the nursing assistants, to the doctors and PA’s they were amazing! They were so patient with me with the scheduling and my anxiety about going under sedation for the 1st time. Kimberly the PA is so sweet, I had her at my initial appointment. The anesthesiologist was so reassuring and awesome! Dr. Coronel was literally the sweetest man ever. He is so caring and has the best bedside manner I’ve ever experienced from a doctor before. Literally met him for the 1st time today going into my procedure and he was a God send. He literally calmed me and reassured me he wouldn’t let anything bad happen to me and as I dozed off he kept me calm and had me imagine a beautiful place. He assured me I was okay until I fell asleep, which was honestly the best sleep. The girls in recovery were so sweet and amazing and gave me 2 packs of cookies and were just so cheerful and funny and caring. I can’t say enough about this office and I’m so happy I listened to the reviews and came...
