Stony Ford Golf Course — Local services in Town of Hamptonburgh

Wow. What happened? Tee boxes are horrendous. Fairways burnt out. Only getting 3 stars and not 2 because $21 to walk after 1:00 is a fair price. I know we've had some hot, humid weather but this course is almost gone, except for the crab grass, you'd have a hard time finding anything that is green. Also didn't help that we were behind a 4-some that had no right playing. I called the pro shop while standing on the 13th tee box to let them know that this group was at least an hour off the pace and that the entire rest of the golf course in front of these clowns was open up. The guy who answered told me "go around them". Really? That's how you handle this? I was only calling because behind us was the men's league play and I was calling to give the pro shop a heads up that some groups may not even finish before dark. And how is it fair that we should go around a 4-some in carts when we are walking? We paid for 18 holes, we'd like to play 18 holes. Won't be going...

This is a great public course that's taken care of and has a good amount of difficulty (at least coming from a beginner). There are some long Par 4s and a few challenging Par 3's. A few of the holes offer some excellent views of the surrounding area.

There is a full service shop, a restroom (there are a handful of porta-potties throughout the course), a bar and place to eat. They regularly have staff circle the course in a cart offering beverages and snacks.

My main complaint about the course, and , to be fair, this is me being nit-picky this is a rather long course, with some long holes and you can walk it rather than using a cart. Worst conditions for a golf course. Starting from the parks d Commissioner who doesn't know what it takes to maintain a golf course. Superintendent doesn't care how to maintain a golf course. Grounds crew don't care about anything but cut grass as fast as they can and go home. Holes in fairways, greens slow, tee boxes almost bare and hard, rocks in bunkers, etc. Money being spent on other things and a personal parking space built for parks commissioner in front of the building.
