Malibu Beach Camp — Local services in Town of Hempstead

We were so excited to start camp here and were sorely disappointed. We come home missing items and with everything in disarray. They ask for multiple ziploc bags to contain wet bathing suits and towels. On the occasions those items were actually returned (much money spent Sunday nights buying replacement bathing suits and towels on top of the tuition) they were thrown into the backpack which then ended up soaking wet making it impossible to pack the back again until the morning of. Our daughter came home with other children’s bathing suits and underwear on (completely unsanitary). The camp has its positive aspects - counselors are wonderful at helping with separation, it is relatively affordable for a seven week five day full day camp and meals are included. Reduce the camper to counselor ratio, I think it’s just too much.

On a note that is unaddressable by the camp itself - the attitude and phrases that came out of interaction with other campers was heinous. I don’t know what parent allows their kid to run around saying things like “I’ll kill you” or whine constantly should not be interacting and spreading their terrible habits. It will take a while to recorrect...

My daughter just finished her 2nd summer at Malibu and she had such a great time! Every day is filled with activities from swimming, to sports, to crafts, and this year she even got to go on some field trips. The counselors and the administrative staff are all super friendly and really care about the campers. Our experience with Malibu Beach Camp has been wonderful for our son! A great staff, that is like a big enthusiastic family, a place with opportunities for summer fun, socialization, and learning how to swim safely.
