I don't usually write reviews. My family stops here whenever we hike the trails by the falls. Even though it is extremely overpriced ice cream, $4.50 a scoop!!!. Its scenic location and style of shop has a nice nostalgia for us as a family. it's been a pleasant memory maker but this last visit was really unfortunate. Our elderly parents were visiting from the south, my mother has parkinson's and uses a walker. She asked to use the bathroom and the teenage boys told her there was wasn't one. Not one customers can't use but just wasn't one! I asked again for her, discreetly cuz she was embarrassed by their response. They told me the same thing . when asked where they used the bathroom , they just said we don't go to the bathroom and giggled. I'm a grown up. i know some businesses don't let you use their bathrooms. I know these kids don't fully understand how uncomfortable it is for a elderly person with accessibility issues to get in and out of car . let alone when they really wanna use a bathroom . the building is not handicapped accessible , it took some time to get out of the building and get back in the car. The situation put a really downer our day. It was painful watching my mother struggle , while these kids just stared at us from the window. At some point a older man who could have been the owner was watching us struggle from the window . its was weird and ruined the ice cream shops sweetness for us for future visits. we tried to stay positive but the next day my mother told me how hard that small moment was, how parkinson take so much of your dignity and small acts of respect...
Read moreConvenient location, has a good variety of all sorts of camping/fishing needs. Two stars for that. Didnât end up getting ice cream but the server guy was friendly, and the hard ice cream flavors were pretty standard/good. Docked a lot of points because we had a rude encounter with the owner (Or whoever dude named Joe is). He wanted to say hi to my friendly dog, which is fine. But he started making rude comments like âthey donât give you any attention at home, do theyââŠto my very well pampered dog. I assured him that attention is literally all she gets inside and outside of home, and he insisted, saying âno no, I can tellâ. Which is untrue, and really just rude of him to say. And he was saying that to my dog instead of me, to make it even more insulting. Some people donât know how to keep their judgmental comments to themselves. This man was one of them. To top off the rudeness, he tried to give my dog some treats. I told him my dog has a sensitive stomach. He insisted that I need to feed her more, and proceeded to give her a LOT of treats to my diarrhea-prone dog. Iâm glad he had a good time, but heâs not going to be the one cleaning after the dog. Really would not return after this experience, given the pushy and inconsiderate owner who apparently doesnât understand what...
Read moreI didn't enter the general store, I just ordered the ice cream. Hence, my rating is based solely on the ice cream. This was not your supermarket or chain store ice cream! This is the ice cream that the warriors in Valhalla are licking. I was so dumbstruck by the flavor of my servings that I did not even think of taking a picture for my review.
After a nice hike up the falls drop by and get your at least 2 scoops. Why? They have so many flavors you want to savor as many as you can. They also do sampling but I never been into that. I just go for it and if I like it I like it....
