warning: graphic images traumatizing. absolutely disgusting how these animals were treated. steers and calves were thrown to the ground with their heads twisted by these so called cowboys purely for entertainment and to show superiority. i kept my head up to watch the lasso tricks and the kids participation, however I could not bear to watch any other parts. if you care for animals DO NOT GO. i wish i had known how much animal abuse occurs at rodeos before i went— i went honestly without knowing what rodeos were at all. the y before the “show” was decent. offered chicken, pulled pork, coleslaw, mac and cheese, and potato salad. no ribs or corn as advertised on the website. there was a table with sweet tea, pink lemonade, and water, as well as a table with pudding and pre-packaged cookies. everyone sat at picnic tables or restaurant tables (both in the shade) but as the sun set, the sun shone at our eyes making it very hot. overall, cannot believe how these animals were treated. ALSO the kids participation made 8-year-olds and younger enter the muddy arena, take off one shoe, then run to the opposite side, where other staff mixed up the shoes. the game was to find your shoe and put it back on then run back to the rodeo clown. Became a mess as all the kids scrambled, tripping over one another. In the end, one kid was mussing his shoe, and there were two extra shoes in the arena; one in that kid’s SAME DESIGN but DIFFERENT SIZE. This took about 2.5 hours, and the waiting time between the barbecue was about an hour. The seats in the stands are very shallow and uncomfortable (wooden benches), especially to be sitting for 2+ hours. Fortunately there was an intermission where i could finally stretch my legs. If you visit the lake George area, there are FAR BETTER places to go to; i absolutely would not come here again, and i recommend you...

I'm so sad that Double M rodeo retired this year, so we had to find a new one within driving distance (50 minutes) . I've seen the sign for Painted Rodeo for years. The drive from Charlton is gorgeous! They do their BBQ perfectly, as well as one can for thousands of people, 4 days a week. A well oiled machine! The owners have been present and actively working each time we've gone, this summer, and are so friendly. The rodeo isn't the "best" I've ever gone to, but it is nonetheless very enjoyable. You couldnt pick a more beautiful background than the avenic Adirondacks; specifically, Luzerne NY. The announcer and clown are so full of energy, it is a wonder how they bring their A game 4 days a week, so many weeks in a row. They really do a great job entertaining the crowds. I especially like the opening salute to country and flag, and prayer, and the honouring of our military friends, in the second half. My daughter has now started barrel racing because of this rodeo. I think we'll be rodeo people, next summer ❤️. BRING CASH! Parking supports the local Elks (I think), and all concessions are cash only. Buy your rodeo and bbq tickets online, in advance, or pay with cash upon arrival. Bring the wee little ones, this is a perfect family event! One nice thing about this rodeo is that the show is under cover. Oh, and they keep those Porta potties SUPER clean! But yea......

Fun show to check out! We decided on the BBQ and rodeo deal so we went early to eat, then went over to the grandstands after. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The meal reminded me of a big family reunion. You eat in a pavilion and there is room for the kids to run around ECT. Over to the main event the bleachers are all covered so it wasn't too hot, a great choice by the owner for sure. There are your normal concession stands with candy, popcorn, pretzels, fries, fried dough, chicken fingers, ect (looks like they made the hot food to order so it was fresh)! Those were all cash only so bring your $ there is also an ATM inside the bar across the parking lot. You can see everything from the top where the good is so you won't miss anything going up. They also had a small gift shop and I would say the prices were not too outrageous, fun things for kids too! Bathrooms- there are regular flush toilets off of the bar area then port-a-potties up near the grandstands. Not a far walk at all if you prefer inside bathrooms. The bar was nice as well, we went for the matinee so I imagine it would get more use other nights. Overall a nice outing with the family, won't break the bank and it's something different. Check it out if you are looking for something fun to do. Great job Painted Pony it was a nice...
