The first time I went to Service Plus, I was satisfied with the oil change on my Jeep.
Then my headlight went out a couple months later, so I went and bought a bulb to replace it. However, a new bulb didn't work so I brought it into Service Plus. Service Plus ran diagnostics and concluded that the ground to my headlight had gone bad. They told me that they needed to ground a negative wire. They said I had two options: undo all the wiring to find the root(more expensive and more time), or to snipthe ground and ground it directly to the chasis. I knew that normally, on most vehicles, grounding directly to the chasis has no issues. However, after talking to my mechanic in my hometown, I was advised that it could be possible that if the wiring harness is set up a specific way, grounding straight to the chasis could fry other electrical components to the vehicle. Anyways, it took Service Plus roughly 2 hours to diagnose the problem and 30 minutes to ground the negative wire. I received my car and when I saw the headlight work, I paid nearly $200, and I rushed back to work. On my first and last right turn (side where work was done on headlight), I noticed that my turn signal would blink at twice the speed after 3 normal blinks. I called them back, and they advised me to bring it back in. I scheduled another appointment.
At the next appointment, they took the vehicle for fifteen minutes. The technician came back and notified me that they did not touch the signal lights at all. They denied any connection between the two issues and asked if I wanted to run a diagnostic on the issue. I declined. Almost at the gate back onto post, I realized that my emergency brake light did not go away. Immediately, I checked to see if I drove off with my emergency brakes engaged. They were not. I pulled over to the side of the road and messed with my emergency brake to make the light go away. I called back to Service Plus and they told me to bring it back for further inspection. I took it back, and they again denied ever working on any brake system while it was in their possession.
My overall experience with them has been very poor. I was unable to drive my vehicle after a year of use because it did not pass New York State's inspections. Service Plus only added more issues to my vehicle while under their care and I am quite upset that 1 foot of wiring and a screw to ground a negative would cost me close to $200. Anyone could diagnose connectivity issues using a multimeter. I could have got that job done for a fraction of the price back in my hometown. It was a little harder for me because my leadership would despise me for ever stepping out of the COF...
Read moreI can’t thank Service Plus and Chris enough for being so great! I called after having a check engine light pop a transmission code on my 2015 Yukon Denali (just bought pre-owned in January). They were the only place that could get me in within a week so that was already a great start. A couple days before bringing it to the appointment, the check engine light went off. I brought it in anyways because I wanted to be sure everything was okay. They looked at it, found some sort of leak and said they would contact our warranty company for coverage. Warranty company and Chris recommended a full transmission service along with the leak of repair so I gave the go ahead. Once they started on that, I received a call that the tech found chunks of metal in the fluid. Not good. Chris kept me in the loop the whole time and spoke with nothing but compassion. With my husband being gone, I needed honesty without feeling like I was being lied to and that’s exactly what I got. He was straight forward in saying that a road trip would not be a good idea. He said he’d call the warranty company and figure out where to go from there. The vehicle needed a full transmission and differential replacement. Chris spent hours on the phone with the warranty company getting them to cover more and more of the replacement cost. I can’t even tell you how much that meant to us. I even walked in to grab some things from the vehicle and he was on hold with the warranty company right then too. He kept us in the loop on the whereabouts of the new parts and always had an answer for our questions. Out the door, I couldn’t even believe that we only owed what we did, thanks to Chris. The vehicle drives like new and Chris even called the next day to make sure everything was running well and offered his assistance if we needed any further information for dealing with the dealership that sold us the vehicle.
Bottom line, this place is honest, thorough, and just down right pleasant to work with. I can’t recommend them enough and we feel reassured that we have a place to take any of our vehicles if we need them serviced. Thank you Service Plus for the...
Read moreConvenient for oil changes and co. close to post. However, and I've waited about 25,000 miles more of driving to post this to be sure, but I stopped going there because of the following huge oversight by one of their mechanics that nearly cost me $2-$4k+, and that was too big of a screw up. My Subaru was around 125k, 6-ish years old at the time, and I started getting a rotor-like sound coming from the front left wheel at speeds over 60. Common knowledge, Google mechanic, and just the location of the sound pretty clearly pointed to wheel-issue, and maybe wheel bearing or axle. But I'm not a mechanic, so I took it in. The mechanic said, and I'm directly paraphrasing, "wheel bearing is fine, no sound during test drive, but your transmission is going," and stuck a screwdriver against the front differential to let me hear the sound. Convincing, but it's a 6 y/o car, a Subaru, and 120k miles, tranny issues seems odd but ok.... I've used these guys a lot and generally trust them on the mechanic front. The cost of a trans new was $4k, used was ~$2k, so a huge repair to do so I wanted to double check. I did further research, and also called the dealership just to describe "the sound, this is what I was told, does a tranny issue make sense." Told no, that doesn't, so I call service plus again to be ask, is there really no other possible cause for this, as I'm looking at $4k of repairs based on your recommendation. I was told no, no way, our mechanics know what they're doing (to be fair she did go back and talk to the mechanic again she said). But, being that expensive, I bit the bullet and paid the $90 to get it checked by a dealership. And, low and behold, front differential was a-ok, I have about 25k miles of driving since then to support that thesis, and yes, my wheel bearing was the issue. Fixed and noise gone. So, I stopped going here. Misjudging a $400 wheel bearing repair for a $2-$4k tranny repair is absurd assuming it was an honest mistake, but makes me question every other they recommended and I did before I...
