Best racing in NY. Drivers are badasses, track is (typically) in good shape, racing is multi-grooved, stands are packed.
The track does a great job with their social media and interactions. They let people piss and moan, they keep people up to date (+/- 15min) to weather changes. They don't block people who have constructive criticism (I'm looking at you, Fonda...) and if you have a question, they seem genuinely sincere when answering it. The don't have an old man who seems overly annoyed if ya call 'em on Raceday (yeah...Fonda...). They don't take 3 days to get to ya when you have an a-hole in the middle of the track shining his headlights into the grandstands...guess where...FONDA. Fonda is simply a terribly run track full of great drivers and a ton of history.
That being said, the flag man is atrocious. He seemingly has no control of the restarts (3 wide at going into 3), he looks lost when there is an accident. He genuinely looks lost on the flag stand. I can't tell you how many people are disappointed in the stands with the way he controls the races.
They have a ridiculous "small bill policy." You can only buy food and drinks with $1s and $5s. I walked up to the change window (this REALLY is a stupid policy) with 5 $20s and the lady asked me if I wanted it all in $1s. Yes, I want to walk around with 100 dollar bills. How about you change the policy to nothing greater than a $20 and then put a little footwork into getting change. Anyways, this is incredibly annoying and saves 0 time.
So, beyond the terrible, lost, and seemingly confused flag man and the incredibly silly "small bill policy," the track is great! The drivers put on one hell of a show every Friday night, and you can't beat it for $10 a person. Oh! And the 50/50 drawings...best lookin' 50/50 ladies in...
Read moreI have been here once with my wife and good buddy visiting us. I found an Americana that I have rarely seen in NYS. Here was this interesting sport that down to earth people race the cars they build after their day is done. It's a family affair, where small children are seen everywhere at the races and wear their ear protection. Admission was $10 and food was a steal. No reserved seats first come first seated. My wife didn't care for the race car noise but loved the family vibe. My buddy got quickly bored. I loved it but it's a once a year thing, this year will be my last since the property has been sold to NRT who will turn it into low income...
Read moreIt's loud. It's dirty. It's a solid night out for the family and cheaper than the movies. I have no interest in racing and largely only agreed because my six year old wanted to go. I haven't been here since I was his age...and we're really having a good time. The concessions and bathrooms are clean. The employees we've met have all been super nice and the crowd is full of families and there's been nothing that required an awkward explanation. Thanks for a...
